+CacheMiner72 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) I am looking for an unactivated Project APE Geocoin. I wasn't into collecting coins when these were released but with a trip planned to the Project APE cache later this spring I am looking for one to bring along with me. I don't really have a lot of traders so I am looking to buy it or maybe a trade with money as well. I hope someone on here may have one that they might be willing to part with. PM me through my profile. Thanks a lot. kayn Edited January 8, 2009 by kayn_os Quote

+cache_in_hand Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 One is selling on E-bay if you are looking to purchase. Quote
+CacheMiner72 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 I prefer to deal direct on here if possible then to have a member have to pay fees on an auction site but I thank you for the info. Quote

I guess I'm 'letting the cat out of the bag' on a new coin , but it could save you a lot of searching. Our soon-to-be-released coin is 1/3 Project APE (Mission 9: Tunnel of Light) and 2/3 other stuff . Are you going anywhere else geo-related on your trip? Quote

+nelson crew Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 One is selling on E-bay if you are looking to purchase. I stumbled on this one this morning (wasn't looking specifically for it) and won it. I'm not sure if it is worth the $73 I just paid for it... Quote
princeshoko Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Oh its worth $73, ive seen them go for almost $200 before. I consider them rare and special, and very hard to find. Quote
+fairyhoney Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 IF you just want to discover one, there is one secured to the top of the cache at the Ape cache @ Snoqualmie Quote
+nelson crew Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) So question then: Is it "smarter" to leave it unactivated? On the one hand it would be cool for people at events and such to be able to discover it, and on the other hand, a "virgin" coin is clearly worth more... I guess I need to decide what I want to do with it. I'm not really a collector (my wife won't allow the expenditures - I'm surprised she forgave me this one) but, well, clearly I'm a big mugwump. +AtlantaGal Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 $73 is cheap compared to what they've been going for. I'd leave it unactivated if you ever think you're going to resell it. Quote

+CacheMiner72 Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Well it looks like the deal I was working on fell through because I was away from the computer for a few days I am still looking for an unactivated one so please let me know if there are any out there available, preferably for sale or trade/sale. Tooeygeotrashed Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Having done all my local caches and finding fuel just too expensive to go zipping about Scotland looking for caches I offered to retrieve my Project A.P.E. coin for kayn_os since it has languised in a remote cache for far too long. I don't have an unactivated one to offer, but I'm happy to adopt this over the kayn_os, first of all though the coin had to be retrieved. So I set off this morning on a journey I have done many times - but never in such cold conditions. I was able to stop en-route to check out another cache I have set, HighlandNick very kindly used a cast Reindeer Antler to mark this tree for me, as I quite often can't find it This cache is up this tree somewhere Now this next picture is of a trap set by the game keeeper - it looks an ideal place for a cache - but be warned it is not the place to be inserting hands into ...... The track gets very steep in parts But the higher you go the better the view From the main path I always follow the line of Shooting Butts up the Hill Quote
Tooeygeotrashed Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 At the top of the ridge looking North, Ben Rinnes is to the far right (not left as I put in the log) and you may just be able to see a small herd of Reindeer to the left of centre. Unfortunately there are plenty of these about Scotland Finally reached the Cairn - which is close to the Cache location It's pretty cold up here - this plaque and cairn was erected by Queen Victoria's Ghillies to commemorate her Jubilee Year in 1887 On the way back down I came across more Reindeer But they were getting a little too familiar I probably should not have petted them !!! Nearly home......... And yes definitely mission accomplished It has been great to get out caching today and with a purpose. Looking forward to sharing this coin with some other Scottish Cachers at Lunga next month and then it will be on it's way to you Quote
Tooeygeotrashed Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 You can read about the history of the Reindeer herd here. Quote
+CacheMiner72 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Tooey, after seeing these photos I hope that I can do this coin justice in it's travels and post pictures as incredible as these. Thanks again for this coin. Quote
+nelson crew Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Yeah, thanks Tooey for those awesome pics. Add Scotland to the ever-growing list of places I'd *love* to visit! That hike in particular is making me drool. Quote
+Hypnopaedia Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 (edited) Sorry to butt in to this thread but it fits what I needed to ask the community. I am looking for the exact coin the OP is. In the next week I am placing a tribute cache for Mission 9: Tunnel of Light in the same location as the original with a 81mm ammo can and similar stencil etc. I have a Moun10bike coin I will probably attach to the lid, like the original. The Original also have one of those Project APE Admit One Geocoins on it. The cache will be secured with heavy chain and the coins will be secured to the lid. If someone was willing to sell/trade one of these to me then it would go to helping many Geocachers have a similar experience to an original APE Cache who have not had the opportunity previously. Thanks for your time. EDIT: I didn't realize this thread was so old, and now I see there is no delete button. Sorry. Edited July 21, 2011 by Hypnopaedia Quote
+ice13-333 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 (edited) I have one Projekt Ape Silver in my list of coins, i´m selling. Trades possible... Edit: seems like i have the newer version... Not the ticket version. Edited July 21, 2011 by ice13-333 Quote
+Wintz50 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Any chance someone still has the original ticket version that they won sell? Quote
ATMouse Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 It happens I have an unactivated Project A.P.E. geocoin, the silver version of the Admit One Ticket. I was thinking about putting it on the dreaded eplace, but I'd druther let folks here have a whack at it. If you are interested, send me your best offer. Quote
