+Amberel
The cache Quatermass returns to school is still unfound after 20 months. Does anyone know of any other cache (within U.K. and Eire) which is still awaiting its FTF log after 6 months or more? MrsB Not quite the same thing, but I recently found a NaviCache (am I allowed to mention them?) that hadn't been found for 5 years. The undergrowth had completely grown round it like a basket, but when I managed to get it out, it was still in perfect condition. Rgds, Andy Edited January 5, 2009 by Amberel Quote Link to comment
+drdick&vick
I think the fact that NOBODY even logged a DNF for 9 months and there is NO FTF yet after 20 months only goes to show that some puzzle caches are just TO much of a puzzle. Quote Link to comment

Just proves it's a real challenge - and I strongly suspect there's a few local cachers in Norwich really enjoying the challange... Quote Link to comment
+Jaz666
Any puzzle cache placed on Arran usually has to wait a year or two to be found. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d505c&log=y - Hidden: March 16th 2007 Quote Link to comment
+The MucKees
Hi there, This is my first look at the forums and I can't believe this Cache is being dicussed. I tried in vain to do this after a friend at work said he'd tried and failed so we decided to have a go together, two heads being better than one. I didn't log it as a DNF because, although I found the four digit no the co-ords take you to, I couldn't make it fit the puzzle. I came up with a few possibilities for N and E co-ords but they all seemed to be a few miles away from the original clue, dunno if this is right or whether you should be able to walk to the new co-ords, there's nothing in the original instructions to indicate this If anyone fancies decyphering the numbers I'll forward the four digit code mentioned in 'the letter' (check out the cache for more details) and perhaps we could pool our knowledge and get a joint FTF I guess you can get to me via geocaching.com under this user name or I'll post my email on here if there's any interest Cheers, Gav Quote Link to comment
+The Blorenges
Welcome Muckees Maybe you could try contacting the other cachers who have logged DNFs on that cache - You could even create a local Event to bring all the 'sheep's heads' together to socialise generally and discuss this cache then. The cache owner used to be quite active on this forum up to a couple of years ago: He's gone quiet recently but is obviously still 'active'. Try emailing him through his profile to try and squeeze another hint or two out of him MrsB Quote Link to comment
+keehotee
You could even create a local Event to bring all the 'sheep's heads' together to socialise generally and discuss this cache then. MrsB... an event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together cachers for an organized hunt of another cache or caches Quote Link to comment
wolfshead57
A wee Ramble on the Moors was placed on 12/08/2007 and is still unfound. Just a straight forward (sort of) cache hidden away on the Northumberland moors. Moss trooper had a bash and logged a did not attempt instead of a DNF because this one is for folks who know what they are doing on the hills and Moss does. So anyone trying this one needs to think about it carefully and go in a group or at least 2 people. Mobile coverage is patchy and help would be via ASR. Walker Dan has his eye on it is just waiting for better weather. see notes for updates on the cache. Quote Link to comment

+BCNorwich
I to have spent hours trying to work out a location for Quatermass. Living literally five minutes away and passing it every time I go to the city is very frustrating indeed. I'd love some help. Regards Bernard Quote Link to comment

Regards Bernard I've mailed my knowledge and findings to ya Bernard, lets hope we can get this baby cracked! Gav P.S. I'm gonna contact the Cache setter aswell and see if he can give me a hint as to which direction it might be in and how far away it might be, even if it's only a "walk/bike/car" hint it would be a start Quote Link to comment

+HazelS
I just don't get it... I WANT my caches to be found!!! I don't see the point in a puzzle that nobody can solve, I know others love that type of thing, but it's not for me. Good job really, I'm useless at Puzzle caches! Quote Link to comment
+Team Sieni
We made a special trip to Norway last year to find a cache that had been unfound since being placed in 2006. FTF here we come, we thought. It wasn't there (subsequently confirmed by another cacher) Actually the special cache specific bit wasn't quite as dramatic, it was about 100km drive from Finland to the cache site, plus about 10km on foot. Still, at least we didn't have to do a puzzle. Just yomp over Norwegian fells. Edited January 6, 2009 by Team Sieni Quote Link to comment

I don't recall one specifically for unfound caches but I do recall one for visiting neglected caches that hadn't had visits for ages, or something like that. I think there was even a point-scoring system, wasn't there? Somebody will dredge up the Topic from somewhere... If we wait long enough... MrsB Quote Link to comment

+NinjaCacher!
Click on "Ignore Listing" That doesn't really do what it says though. I recently tried it with a cache in Germany (because the owner doesn't allow Premium Members to log it, and would delete all their "found" logs). But it still shows up on search results (nearest caches from coords xy) and on the map search... the only point where I could actually make it disappear is from pocket queries, by selecting "include only caches that are not on my ignore list". Well of course, I wouldn't put them on my ignore list if I wanted them in the PQ results. Shouldn't that be kind of obvious? And they still show up on all the other searches! A bit useless if you ask me. Or am I missing something? Quote Link to comment

Jester1970
I have a cache which has not been found since October 2006. It's a multi-cache, I think the fact that there is a rock climb involved puts people off. Quote Link to comment

Approx 8 - 10 km MTB ride from nearest parking then a 1 - 2 km hike to cache... Could well be placed on list of ones to try ... looks good TA Edited August 20, 2009 by fat boy slow Quote Link to comment
