+MnStar
Does anyone GC at night? It would seem to add a fun element to the search. Unless you are in a metro crime-ridden area of course. Quote Link to comment
+Sandy Hams
We have done some night caching -- specifically with caches designed to be hunted/found at night. But you do have to be careful that you don't try to find a cache placed near someone's home at night because people get kind of antsy when folks are rummaging around in their bushes at night. Also we have found that it is very difficult to see somethings at night that are fairly obvious in daylight. It is fun though and does add an element of mystery. Quote Link to comment
+hairball45
Night, day, rain, snow, heat, cold, wind you name it folks will cache in it. It's all good, some just better than other. Quote Link to comment
Howling/Pepper Chef
check out mngca.org, and the weeknight caching crew. welcome to the addiction!! Edited January 5, 2009 by Howling/Pepper Chef Quote Link to comment
+Chuy!
Yes, night hikes are awesome. Grab a hiking buddy if you can, maybe even a geo-dog. Try hiking under a full-moon, you'll find you can see the trail fine and you'll be able to hike with the flashlight off - provided your are clear of trees and high canyon walls. Also, grab a hiking/walking stick to clear the trail of spider webs. You'll find spideys build their webs off the ground so 4-legged animals can clear them, but most webs will be head-high for most humans. Also, always tell a love one or friend where you are going and when you think you'll return. Urban night-caching also works out well for those muggle-infested areas. Do expect more contacts with the police. Quote Link to comment

+briansnat
One issue to be aware of is that many parks are closed at night. Entering these places to find caches after hours is not good for our sport, so be sure to obey local laws. Quote Link to comment
+The Hipster
Absolutely! I find that often tricky hides are easier to find in the dark. Moonlight caching is wonderful & yeah it is a great time to do high muggle area caches. Specific night caches are a hoot & a great way to socialize with a band of equally crazy cachers. There is just something about a shared night time experience that transcends that done of a day. Quote Link to comment
+jtbrady01
Yep, did 11 in a wooded park New Years Eve. Like briansnat stated earlier had to watch the posted hours. Had to be out of the park by 11:00pm. However, with the sun still setting between 5:15-5:30pm starting at 6:30pm was plenty dark. Turns hunting for low difficulty micros up a notch or to. +mfamilee
We don't have the opportunity to go caching at night often, but when we do we love it! There's an added rush of excitement when making the find. Don't forget your flashlight! Quote Link to comment
+ghettomedic
Unless you are in a metro crime-ridden area of course. Awwwww come on that adds the danger factor, you could add 2 stars to difficulty. Quote Link to comment

+macatac1961
Most new caches around me are published in the evening or early morning. The evening ones bring out the FTFers no matter what time the cache is approved. I like to read the logs then hunt for it in the daylight myself. Quote Link to comment
+SkellyCA
Neither rain... Nor sleet... Nor dark of night... Will keep a geocacher from his appointed cache Oh wait, that belongs to some other group! Oops. Quote Link to comment
themidnightgang
As noted in the name, we only cache at night. Which is probably why we have found so few. We are all in college, and boring nights when nothing is going on, we go geocaching. We've been on some amazing adventures, and the darkness adds a little something to the hunt. Good luck! +MotorZen10
Don't forget your back-up flashlight. Just something I learned in a lava river tube in Oregon. Man! talk about darkness PS. This was not a Geocache hunt, just a long walk out of the cave. Quote Link to comment

+dmblair13
We love caching at night! In our area (metro Detroit) there are a few caches that are meant to be done only at night. They were our favorite caches so far. One of them had a becon that only worked when you put your flashlight beam on it. My husband and I prefer to stay away from muggles, so many night caches are perfect for us. Quote Link to comment
+team5150
Night caching is a blast! But one word of caution... if you are going off the beaten path or anywhere that you are unfamiliar with be sure to waypoint your vehicle. It makes getting back a lot easier, especially when you get turned around in the woods. Quote Link to comment
+hesslv
I attempted a night cache/hike in the mountains once a few weeks back. Found all caches, but was extremely dark. Left the trail by midnight and the moon was not out so it was pitch black to say the least. Here is a video from the trip from my blog: Edited August 23, 2010 by hesslv Quote Link to comment
+Panther&Pine
We don't do night caches, too scary! Actually too many bears around here to comfortably be out and about hunting for night only caches. Quote Link to comment
ThomasFamily102
Just did a cache an hour ago. Grabbed it at 9:30 pm. It was kinda of wierd because it was dark but it made it fun! There was just enough moonlight to shine the way. As I was walking I looked up from my gps and noticed I was in the middle of this guys baseball field he built for his boys in his backyard. The cache was right behind home plate. It is wierd to do at night but a great experience Quote Link to comment
Andronicus
When night caching, I use a large MagLED. It will often make camo shine for an easy find. I also use google maps mobile on my phone. That way I can make sure to find a trail going to GZ. It is almost as good as might vision. Although, it doesn't help me see the deer ahead on the trail. Quote Link to comment
+roziecakes
I LOVE caching at night! I work a lot of hours, so I often don't get a chance to go out until after work, and in the fall / winter that means it's dark already. Be sure to look for caches with the 24/7 attribute because you can reasonably assume that it's okay to hunt them at night and that there aren't any rules that would prevent you from seeking. Also, some caches are *meant* to be found at night. I believe there is now a night cache attribute, and for the older ones there is a little attribute with a fliashlight icon. Usually night caches are listed as multis and will say that they are night caches on the page. You go to the starting coords, and shine your flashlight onto reflectors of some kind; often fire tacks on trees, or reflector tape; walk to that spot, and then look for the next reflector. They are really fun! Happy caching! Quote Link to comment
+Squirrel N Turtle
We LOVE night caching. There are not a ton set p as night caches around here and once we did have something growl at us (We signed log and took off) When Olean put our the EMGT we were there at 1 in the morning Sadly we watched the FTF pull away and we were STF.
