+NYPaddleCacher
While searching for a two-stage multi cache a couple of weeks ago I came across some interesting looking tracks in the snow. The tracks were about half way between the first and second stage of the cache so I snapped a photo on the way back. I know next to nothing about animal tracks but it looks like a bear to me. Not the shoe print I made next to one of the tracks. It was made with a size 8 /12 cowboy boot. As you can see in the photo, the tracks are wider and just a bit shorter. Quote Link to comment

+Kit Fox
I came across this in the Santa Monica Mountain, last Saturday. That looks like a big dog track where his paw splayed in the soft mud. I'm convinced these are mountain lion tracks, but many argued they are dog tracks due to the visible toe nails. My take is the claws were exposed when the critter sank in the mud. Whateve made the tracks was big!!! http://www.bear-tracker.com/caninevsfeline.html Quote Link to comment
+qlenfg
Just Google 'identifying animal tracks' and pick one of the results. Usually the education sites have some pretty good graphics. Quote Link to comment
+WatchDog2020
I'm pretty sure it is a black bear and a large one at that. I'm glad i don't live near that cache. Quote Link to comment
XC_Tracker
Good chance those are black bear. We found some nice sized black bear prints last year. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...b5-515bb9e48a99 That's an 8 inch leatherman and a size 12 shoe. Quote Link to comment
