Starbugs
Does anyone know if you can use the TomTom point of interest macro in GSAK on a Garmin Nuvi as I am getting one for Christmas Quote Link to comment
Happy Humphrey
The Nuvi can do that and more. It might be worth checking here. Quote Link to comment

Starbugs
As you can see I'm having trouble with the smiley faces too (third time lucky?) Quote Link to comment
drdick&vick
Must admit that I have always been under the impression that custommPOI's in OV2 format were for the TomTom and Garmin units use csv files, usually added to the unit using POI Loader. Geocache Log creates both types of file with no extra add-ons, I would think you may need another micro for GSAK to produce csv files as the only .csv files mention ed in my GSAK are for Microsoft Streets and Trips. +Happy Humphrey
No, the Nuvi uploads POI files as well, and it's more advanced than the Tom Tom. All the instructions are in the link I gave. The GSAK macro will extract the cache details and then upload them into the Nuvi. It's been around for quite a while now: look at the thread in the Groundspeak Forum for more info. +drdick&vick
The original question asked as to whether a macro that created a POI file in TomTom format (OV2) could be used with a Garmin Nuvi which I felt might need checking as they are two different file formats. Quote Link to comment
Happy Humphrey
You're right, it is a different macro: the Nuvi won't want an OV2 file, it will take a GPX instead if reformatted (which is why you also get full cache details). But I don't imagine that the OP is too bothered which macro it is as long as it does the job. Quote Link to comment
