Question about pocket queries?/

When a new PQ is generated, does it automatically overwrite the old one that is on my Garmin 60CSx and Palm Zire 31 PDA or do I have to delete the old ones first? Thanks - CachinSpree

Nevermind -- I realized that I can't remember what mine did after I clicked reply!

 

I always delete all my GSAK files before I unzip the new PQs. I am thinking at one point before I started that practice that the files were duplicated, not replaced, but I won't promise that is correct.

 

It would be easy to try it and find out though.

No you need to make room on your GPS for the new data. I believe it will overwrite anything with the same name but not remove the whole lot of waypoints you downloaded.

A PQ sends you a zip file. How you use that zip file and the GPX file information in it for the caches of your PQ on your GPS is up to you and whatever means that you use to put the information there, and what software you use.

 

Most people clear out the GPS of waypoints, then have GSAK send the caches they want based on some filter of the gsak database.

 

If you re-use the same saved PQ then you will get a zip file of the exact same name. That's not a problem if you don't care about old useless information, but you could rename it manually when you save it to your computer.

No, when I download new PQ's onto my 60cx, all of the old waypoints STAY, and the new ones are simply added.
