NUVI 200 map compatibility

I have maps I've custom-made that I use with my Garmin eTrex Venture (hydrology, contour, land-cover, etc). Are they compatible with the Nuvi? Does it also use Mapsource?

 

Wal-mart has the Nuvi 200 on sale tomorrow (black Friday) for $99, and I'm considering grabbing one for the car.

Indeed yes. Here's one of Above the Timber's custom maps on my Nuvi 205W.

 

 

Best I can tell the Garmin mapping language is universal across all platforms.

Yes but will it work on the trail can we load way points into it to locate caches? Dose anyone know?

I am also interested in purchasing a gps for my car and have been looking at the garmin nuvi or tom toms. Can I add waypoints to these or just street adresses. Definitely would help finding parking much quicker and easier. Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can add waypoints, but keep in mind that there is no compass screen on most nuvis. Also, a quick look through this forum will turn up a couple of nuvi geocaching macros.
