+DresselDragons
This is a commemorative coin for a local geocacher that passed away in 2005 in a tragic car accident…Sherri McGibbon, aka "pennstategirl". This trackable coin is 1.75", finished in satin silver, and includes its own icon. The coin, designed by YemonYime, features the cross on one side, and the following inscription on the back, "The cross towers high on this mountain top as an enduring symbol that life triumphs over death". The Jumonville Cross (represented on the coin), a 60 foot tall cross, has overlooked the Uniontown, PA area (Sherri's home) since 1950. Anyone traveling through the area cannot help but notice this feature. On a clear day the mountaintop boasts a view of three states and seven counties with sights up to 50 miles away. It is also the home of Sherri's Cache, a cache placed in her memory. Since she passed away, TRIGO (Three Rivers Informal Geocaching Organization) of the Pittsburgh area has held many fundraisers to help Sherri's children, Ashley and Andrew. This coin was minted by TRIGO to help raise funds for their educational fund. It first made its debut at GeocoinFest 2008 in October; all proceeds from the coin sale were donated to their fund. The wonderful folks at Hogwild Stuff are selling the remainder of the coins for us (CLICK HERE), with the profit being donated to the Ashey and Andrew's educational fund. Quote Link to comment
