It's like going from just antenna service on a TV to cable or even a satellite dish. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Yes. Worth it. Just $30 for Pocket Queries, instant notifications, Member caches, more Forums, caches along a route etc... However, the best reason is simply to support the people and expensive machines that make all this data available to us. Quote Link to comment
+TheAlabamaRambler
Without a doubt. Even Premium benefits aside I would pay 3 times the yearly rate for access to this site and feel it to be still a great deal! Edited November 25, 2008 by TheAlabamaRambler Quote Link to comment

And, even though I left the corporate management world -- and therefore the world of high salaries -- nine years ago, and have simply worked since that time as a consultant from my home office, and therefore have somewhat limited income, our household supports at least two Premium accounts full time, and at times supports a third and a fourth as well (on behalf of geo-friends who have helped me to emplace caches in distant places or specialists [i.e., radiation health physicist buddies, etc.) who have helped me with emplacing extreme caches), and we never have regretted a moment of it! In any case, the monthly and yearly membership fees charged by Groundspeak for Premium memberships are INSANELY low compared to membership fees charged by other sites for a comparable level of services; they are so low that it is a joke! Secondly, you are actively supporting the sport. And lastly, YES, the benefits are worth it! Go For It!!!!! +GrnXnham
Don't forget that after you get your premium membership, you become eligible for the GOLD membership which comes with some pretty unbelievable benefits. Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
If there were no premium members there would be no hobby. I suppose those that want the benefits of society without paying for it can stay on welfare but they owe us that pay for their fun a big thanks everytime they see one of us. Quote Link to comment

I think they know that they could raise the fee and we would still come. I think they want to make a decent living and make this site as good as it can be rather than make all the money they can... don't tell anybody, but I think TPTB around here might actually be... gasp... good people! +briansnat
Well that settles that... I am now a premium member! YaY! Congratulations! And the second you receive your first pocket query and load it to your GPS you'll ask yourself what took you so long. It makes geocaching so much easier. Quote Link to comment

At this time I'd like to recommend you search for "paperless" "GSAK" and "Cachemate". Do you own a PDA? Quote Link to comment
+KD7MXI
I have been considering upgrading to premium, but i am not sure. Are the services when you upgrade worth it? it gives you the ability to weed out cache size, type, etc that you don't like and also to find a lot more NOT FOUND YET /FTF through pocket quaries Quote Link to comment
CLV3
I think it is well worth it. Its nice to be able to plan a route when we go on a trip. And we are not even power cachers. Quote Link to comment
The_Brownies
I did the premium thing for a year. But honestly I don't have the time to cache all the time and I honestly find no benefit to the premium membership at this current point in time. If I want to download a list of caches in the neighborhood, I simply pay $3 and do a pocket query and then at the end of the month I go back to being a normal cacher. You need to weigh 1. How much caching do you expect to do? 2. Do you want to go paperless? 3. Do you have a PDA or some device capable of using an application to read the logs? 4. Does your PDA have internet Access? If you said yest to this, then become a premium member. No, than staying a nomal geocacher is the best thing for you. But me. 1. I have very little time to cache. (Working on a Masters degree followed with a PHd & my family time) 2. I only look for a cache every now and then so I don't need paperless caching right now. On a side note, I think if you have enjoyed caching, it's only fair to do at least 1 year as a premium member. $30 bucks is cheap, and it goes to pay for server's, bandwidth, and salaries. Plus by doing the premium thing you in a sense are saying, "I support Geocaching" and I must say I certainly do. I have met a lot of great people in this sport. Plus Geocaching is a family activity that you can do with your family and I have to thank Jeremy for creating this cool site. The choice is all yours, but I thought I'd give you the view from both sides of the coin. Edited November 26, 2008 by The_Brownies Quote Link to comment
+Zop
I have been considering upgrading to premium, but i am not sure. Are the services when you upgrade worth it? Why not try it for a month and see for yourself? When I first started caching, I had no problem with just using the .loc's and EasyGPS but then I decided that I would like to try looking for more than a few at a time and didn't want to have to print out the descriptions for each. So I upgraded to premium member so I could use PQ's, GSAK and my PDA. For me anyway, I would say that since I've upgraded, the fun has grown exponentially. I still don't like PMO caches though Quote Link to comment
+hukilaulau
I became a Premium member soon after I found the website just because I loved the game and wanted to support it. I think you got some enhanced mapping capibilities back then, but I didn't go paperless or use PQ's for almost a year. Coming up on four years now and it's the best recreational investment I've ever made. Quote Link to comment
