MISSION: Penguins Last Minute Christmas Countdown Mission

Sounds like a great idea, but I have one simple question.

I have a few "Unactivated" geocoins, but I have already retreived the "activation code" for them. Would they still be acceptable providing I sent the activation code along with the coin?

Good luck with all the hard work organising this is going to take.

edited for poor spelling

I retrieve all my activation codes and send them with trades sale etc.

saves having to hunt down what coin was made where/where to active questions.

Looking forward to this mission thanks for putting it on

Sounds just the right thing to do.

butterfly lady- I must commend you on all your hard work here!!!,,I figured after the santas mission you would just want to sit and enjoy the fire with your hot choco......but.....oh..no ......

you and your elfs and pengs. are super mission runners!!! thank you for all the fun this year!!!

Thanks, but hot chocolate and fires are not common here near Christmas.

Unless it's a bonfire on the beach in the warm balmy evening.

Christmas in New Zealand is summertime!!!!!!!!!!!

Followed by summer holidays! Three weeks of caching coming up.

The Penguins have reported to me, that their mailbox is full of signups.

As they have yet to start work (They are busy playing in the snow!), they don't have a list to post up here yet......

But I will nag them.

It should be up by December 1st.

Hopefully earlier.

Emails will go out after that.

Please be patient. There are currently 40 people signed up.

And even better - they are quite global. Even more so, than the Santa Mission.

Your email will give you all you need to know.

Thanks from the Penguins.

Just two days left and there are 50 people signed up.

This is truly an international mission.

Participants from Oz, Kiwiland, The land of castles and moors, The nation that wears green in March, another protected by dykes, another famous for a young girl named Heidi..... and the list goes on.

Thanks to all who have emailed the Penguins.

The have a list, and will post it in full after the mission sign up ends.

Please do come back and check it.

Hello all

Can I ask two questions they will probably sound silly to most of you but as this is my first mission I want it to be right!

Q1 - Had an email from you (Butterfly Lady) today and you mentioned sending a regular geocoin, am I being really thick what is a regular geocoin?

Q2 - If sending a coin abroad what do you write on the customs slip, geocoin, coin or token?

Thankyou in advance

Sue

1. A regular is a standard issue geocoin - not micro, not Limited edition etc. A LE would be trading up, which you are welcome to do. Trading up would also include adding a micro, pathtag, signature item or geotag. But the recipient is expecting ONE only geocoin and trading up is not an expectation.

2. Novelty game token is what many of the customs declarations that I receive.

Now - I always like people to ask. No question is silly. Newbies may not know what the old hands do, so ask away....

There will be another email with the mission destinations during the next week.

I'll wait until mission sign up closes and finish sorting out the missions.

Trying to be fair so that everyone sends & receive a mission from far away and not so far away.

Hard, though, as the mission field is weighted more towards North American continent.

Two weddings for me to write up this weekend also.

Here's the list - emails will be going out in small groups at a time. Not in any particular order.

This list is in order, though of caching name.

The penguins have delegated the missions.....

watch your mailbox over the next week.

I will post back here once all the missions have been emailed out.

Please be PATIENT.

Mission received and despatched. Both to European destinations. Because there’s metal in there I couldn’t send it as a normal mail greetings card – it had to go as a small package, but the cost wasn’t too bad!

Despite the contents of both being identical, one came in at 1 gram more than the other making it more expensive (by 8p). No harm done though – I hope they get to their destinations soon!

Missions received. I'm so excited with all those missions, it's really fun

I'll have to make some research on each of my recipients to see which coins I'll be sending them

I don't think people will wait for Christmas to open their envelopes  When we receive a Christmas card, we have to open it right away

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how long it would take to go from the US to Europe? I don't want to put something together to hastily but I want it to arrive in time.....

Hard to tell.

From my experience everything between 5 days and 6 weeks is possible. I'd recommend getting the mailers out as soon as possible. There will be huge piles of Christmas mail.
