"Visible" and "Active" in the Directories

At the bottom of each Cartridge page are two check boxes:

 

"Make this cartridge available in the directory"

 

And

 

"Cartridge is active"

 

How visible do these two options make a Cartridge? It appears that you can send out "Invitations" on Cartridges that you create, so I'm not sure how *invisible* things are on the site since they don't appear to be similar to the Archive option on GC.com. Can people still access an Inactive Cartridge if they have the url for instance?

Yes, but only if they have the URL. Otherwise, an inactive cartridge is effectively invisible on the site, since even if someone searches for it, they won't be able to see it. Checking "Cartridge is active" will make it show up in search results. For example, it'll be in the results list when you search by username or starting location (if set).

 

If you check "Make this cartridge available in the directory," the cart will appear in the "Browse all cartridges" list.
