Wazat
Kicked the oppositions penalty away before they could take it? You might not know the name Ilunga Mwepu. But you’ve probably seen him in action. Mwepu is the famous Zaire right back who cleared a Brazilian free kick in a 1974 World Cup group game by lashing it up the field. Before the Brazilians had chance to take it. Obviously you can’t do that. So obviously Mwepu was booked (much to his surprise, apparently). In some ways you have to credit Mwepu for his quick thinking. In other ways you have to despair at his lack of football knowledge. Edited January 12, 2011 by Wazat Quote Link to comment
Carbon Hunter
With India playing cricket in SA at the moment - a bit of cricket trivia. In 2000 West Indies toured England. At the LORDS test something really incredible happened on DAY 2 of this test. What was it? Quote Link to comment
trevorh7000
I don't think this is it - but it would have been incredible had it happened Eric Roe's younger cousin, equally well endowed stripped off and ran on to the pitch! +Carbon Hunter
No - clue - not many runs - lots of wickets. And no - not about the total number of wickets on any day (although it certainly is a contender for that) - not the answert I am looking for Quote Link to comment
Wazat
Lowest amount of runs for most wicket losses of the most balls bowled in a single day? And even so England won? Quote Link to comment
Carbon Hunter
You're getting too technical Nope - a very simple answer - no statisticians needed. BTW: Was not the most wickets - only 21 wickets fell on that day (tie 9th). Runs are irrellevant to the answer. Quote Link to comment
Wazat
England went in to bat, lost their last three wickets remaining from day 1, Then WI came in to bat lost all their wickets and England came in and lost all but the last wicket to win the match???? Quote Link to comment
Carbon Hunter
Close - you are getting the right idea - but that is three! Quote Link to comment
warthog
I enjoy cricket so let's try this one: England's last three wickets went to a hat trick and maybe the hattrick was the first three balls of the day? Quote Link to comment
Carbon Hunter
Nope - more to do with the 21 wickets in the day leading to the only time in the history of test cricket that ...... Quote Link to comment
malo mystery
.....if the follow on was enforced then maybe one team was bowled out twice within a day, but come to think of it, if that happened on day two then the test would be finished on the second day - dont think that has ever happened before. +Carbon Hunter
Yes - but there have been days when MORE wickets fell on a single day of play - but this was the ONLY day in test cricket history that "something" occured. It could not have occurred without the wickets all falling Technically Hansie Cronje and Nasser Hussein came close when they both declared their innings for ZERO in January 2000 in Pretoria (Centurion).
