+deb3day
I purchased a used Garmin Extrex Legend since I am on a limited budget and can't afford much. The seller said it had USB cable, but when it came I found that it has a RS-232 serial port connector. Of course my laptop does not have this type port connection. My whole point for getting this was to be able to download caches to a handheld unit. Do I have a useless unit? Quote Link to comment
+torossi
You can get a serial to USB cable at any electonics store. I have done that and it works just fine to download from Geocaching.com. Quote Link to comment

+Idahogreggory
Don't look at buying the USB to Serial cable as detracting from your bargain. If you decide to get into paperless caching you will also most likely need the cable for and older Palm Pilot, especially if you're wanting a bargain. When I went paperless I bought two Palm IIIxe for $15 off eBay and they require a serial connection too. Quote Link to comment
