Favorite Geocaching Pen

Clickable PowerTank here. Even before I started caching, I been a Powertank fan. However... I don't sign logs with a pen. I use one of my mechanical pencils. I've "rescued two caches so far that have gotten soaked. Pencil usually survives in the logbook, whereas I found most pens won't. Just my personal observation.

Conclusion? Gel inks = water- & pretty much, bullet-proof.

 

Perhaps the brand you tried doesn't hold the pedigree it claims.

Its funny you use the word "bulletproof". That word came up when I searched for one of the pens listed on this thread. Noodle Bulletproof Black ink with a Platinum Preppy refillable pen won a waterproof test on the Nov 6th entry of this bog. It looks almost faked it is so much better. It sounds like paper makes a difference too. The blog mentions Moleskine log book paper, but I could find no clue what Moleskine is made of.

i like a pilot v5. iv ruined too many pants with leaking g5's

why not just use a pencil? dosent bleed, no run no smear and writes at any angle. and if you lose it your not out very much

Thanks everyone! Per your recommendations, I went out and grabbed some G2 pens at Staples today, and I am a proud owner of one of the Fisher Space Pens. This will come in handy if I find myself aboard a space shuttle someday, too!

I like the Zebra telescoping pens. They are only about 2 & 1/2 inches long when compressed. Writes good and fits in pocket so less likely to get left anywhere. Cheap to replace if lost.

I was using purple G2s as a part of my signature, but in re-visiting caches, I have noticed that my sig had turned pinky red & ran some on logs that had gotten wet after I originally visited. Am now looking for a purple pen that's waterproof that won't bleed thru...

I'm surprised no one has mentioned these yet. They are fairly new. It's the Sharpie Pen. Doens't bleed through, writes on the damp-wet logs, upside down. Four colors available. I love them. Bought a bunch on eBay.

When available, we use the pharmaceutical company giveaways that have an LED light in one end, ball point in the other. Otherwise, the G2 minis.

uni-ball Signo Gel Grip. Signs just about anything, but doesn't work great on Tyvek logs. Excels at leaking your name onto soaked logbooks.

Ditto on the purple ink. Currently a Uniball Signo, but just about any brand will do.

I had a favorite pen that I accidentally grabbed from a cache in Cozumel earlier this year. It was a Royal Caribbean cruise line pen...

 

HaHa lol, I went to a cache via Royal Caribbean to Cozumel and probably used that pen!

I use a Fisher Space Pen (recommended by StaticTank) attached to a lanyard that I hang around my neck. Great for cold weather caching and it writes on those logs that are wet or damp from the rain or springime thaw (still waiting for that thaw here in SD as I look out the window to about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and it's still falling).

Zebra F-301 and fine-point Fisher refills both stand up well to wet conditions and have points small enough to write in tiny spaces.
