ItsNotAboutTheNumbers.com top ten list

From what I've heard, the process of generating some of those lists absolutely pummels the database with requests and caused the site to slow to a crawl or crash completely. Some of them may make a return in some form, but the page is probably gone.

I've also heard that the developer is pretty busy at his new job, and doesn't have nearly as much time as he would like to work on the site, but is still tinkering away every now and then.

Need any help? Maybe I can rewrite that page in .net with some managed SQL. Just let me know. ;)

I've always wondered why this anonymous developer doesn't just change the page so that the lists are updated once per day, or once per hour, or once per 50 uploads or something similar. Create a small database of text or graphics that people can view with minimal server load. State clearly that the file you just uploaded isn't visible in the top ten lists yet and you'll just have to wait until tomorrow like everyone else (or 3:00 PM, or whatever).

Now THIS I understand, and it makes more sense than "the computers can't handle it". May you fully enjoy your life and not bow to the pressure from people demanding that you fix their county maps.

Mmmmmm... spaghetti code....

I for one really miss the state stats as it really improved the caching in Wyoming. Quite a few of us used it for a little friendly competition and the amount of caches found really picked up when we were using it and now it has dramatically dropped off again. I believe that it has a really good impact on the caching community.

Do like I do. Add them to your Friends list and keep track of their progress that way. Then when you are kicking their butts you can send them a message telling them so! :)
