+Vater_Araignee Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Having almost completed repairing a cache, I wanted to put the cache url on the printout. But I don't expect people to type this: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...dd-58def4a66b87 Or this http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...&Submit6=Go Even removing.. &Submit6=Go ..it is still to long. So the question is "How do I create the shortest url possible?" Is it even possible to have a url short enough? Thanks for bothering to take the time to read. Happy hunting, Vater Araignee

+Vater_Araignee Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 http://coord.info/GCDR0N At first I thought that that was not going to work, but then I saw you omitted the 1 and bingo. Thank you much. How about this? http://ncane.com/67n wow thats even shorter.
+Corey Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Any URL shortener will work.. http://is.gd/4Xpf http://tinyurl.com/5efdl9 http://tiny.cc/z5OYi
+trainlove Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Personally I like http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3617561 for caches and travel bugs. But the new coord.info is nice.
Mr.Yuck Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Any URL shortener will work.. http://is.gd/4Xpf http://tinyurl.com/5efdl9 http://tiny.cc/z5OYi Very nice. I was only familiar with tinyurl.com and makeashorterlink.com (which was bought out and merged into tinyurl.com) so good info to know, thanks.
+5 Caching Campers Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Very nice. I was only familiar with tinyurl.com and makeashorterlink.com (which was bought out and merged into tinyurl.com) so good info to know, thanks. The nice thing about coord.info is it's owned by Groundspeak. You don't have to do anything special to and it works for all caches. For the other URL shortner services, you first have to first go to their website and get a short URL for your longer URL. The coord.info link is also more recognizable in that the part after the '/' is the cache ID not just some random string.
