Who is that masked man?

Recommended Posts

While I respect other reviewers' choice to do so, I have no reason to hide my identity. Here is what I look like. Perhaps other reviewers will post their pictures, too, so that folks can get to know us better.

I agree with the Keystone dude. Here's me (IowaAdmin) being interviewed for

a certain podcast about geocaching during Midwest Geobash '07.

For a few years I had a situation where most of the locals were certain I was the local reviewer. I wasn't, but it didn't stop a few people from e-mailing my player account complaining about a cache of theirs that I archived or asking me questions at events. When I would protest that I wasn't the reviewer I'd get a "Yeah, right" and a wink.

RE: Idaho Cache Reviews

Hello mtn-man. I was just reading in the forums, and I think that Renegade Knight may have figured out that one of your sock puppets is reviewing caches in Idaho.

To prevent a security breach, I recommend that Idaho cache review duties be transferred to one of erik88l-r's sock puppets, effective immediately.

Please let me know if there are any questions or if I can be of further assistance.

You're cute. Are you seeing anyone? Do you like Jack Russells?

Sorry Patrick. I know it is hard to tell from photos (guys and gals sometimes just look alike these days), but I am a dude and I am straight.

:D

Flattery can get your cache that is too close to another one published though, so call me. Maybe we can hang out and cruise the local park for babes.

Somehow I think this comment was aimed at your DOG and not so much at YOU. :):D:D

Why does my post say Cascade Reviewer?

I just learned the true identity of Crow T Robot in this thread but otherwise I don't know who any of the reviewers are. I think palmetto is female, given the pronoun that was used to refer to her in a different thread. Knowing her gender doesn't really narrow it down.

That's our own fault for not socialising like we should. Maybe another Hurricane Charley Anniversary Geocaching Bash will happen in Port Charlotte in a year coming up? I don't even know if there was one this year.

I'm not sure it really matters who they are. What could be done with this information? (1) direct negative attitudes towards them in real life because they did something you don't like; (2) direct positive attitudes towards them in real life in the hope they'll do something you will like; (3) ask them to share information they aren't going to share; (4) thank them for volunteering for your favourite sport.

Since thanking them in message would mean just as much and I don't see the value in the other three options, I can't see how it matters who the reviewers really are. If anything, it supports why they want to use separate accounts. :(

I would agree. The reviewers I have worked with have been good people, along with many cachers. But there are some cachers that ...... hmmmm no really polite word. Stalkers may come close. They latch on to the known cachers in the area, have been known to call their work, show up on the other cachers doorstep, and seem to bombard them with emails.

I good reason to want to be anon. I would not want to know the identity of a reviewer. If I saw them at an event I dont want to think that if I did not assocate with them, they may punish me. Or if I hung around them too much and got on their nerves. They woul become the center "can I publish a cache XX" or "what if i did XX" not too mention "there is that unknown cache GCXXX, could you give me a hint of the coords?" not its best not to know.

The most I would like to know is are they local or not. Then I would be able to know if I needed to explain the Salt Flats and a cache there... or a certain peak/river/etc.

You know me, you just might not know it... but I'm not local to you unless I'm on my other property, which I never am! ;)

There doesn't seem to be any such thing as a "local" reviewer here in my neck of the woods.

LOL!!! tlbeers, from Okinawa, said the exact same thang to me at my event last night. Deja vu. ;):D:D:(

I was also saying, "What a coincidnce," since I often browse the forums, see your posts, and have TLBeers in my friends list...small world.

We have 2 reviewers that lives in the states, never meet them but they both do a great job for not getting paid. I would like to be a reviewer but only for our little island of Okinawa but I will leave within the next year, so with said NO GOOD FOR ME!!! Thanks Crow-T and the other reviewer.

At the of Keystone’s request I am posting my picture

Ummm.... I know Heartland Cacher, and that, sir, is no Heartland Cacher!

It's a fake!

:)

Green, rectangular, metal, handle. Looks like Heartland Cacher to me.

There's no rust. Therefore it can't be Heartland Cacher.

I’ve noticed that many cache reviewers use a generic account when they publish caches. Does anyone know the true identity of their area reviewer?

Mississippi cachers know the real identity of their reviewer. He operates under the humble moniker of "mtn-man" by day, and appears to be a mild mannered reviewer residing in a nearby Southern state. By night, he assumes his real identity, Kal-El, Defender of the Universe, battling all manner of evil ones and their minions.

We like having him as a reviewer. As the old saying goes, "we wouldn't trade him for a truck-load of gold monkeys".
