Geocaching theme song

If you were to choose a song that was sort of a theme song for geocaching, what would it be? The reason I ask is I like to make little movies of my best geocache finds, and dub music to them. I thought it might be fun to as you guys what song would come to your mind, if any.

This likely isn't what you have in mind, but often when I'm out chasing FTFs in the middle of the night, riding my motorcycle to the cache site, then playing ninja in the darkness, the "Mission Impossible" theme gets stuck in my head.

I can't think of a particular song, but in general, as background music to a video, I'd say something very rootsy, bluesy, instrumental, and minimalist. The soundtrack to "The Stand" is excellent, if a little on the eerie side.

It sort of depends on the location and time of day but quite often the Harry Potter or Braveheart themes pop into my head when I'm out in the woods. If I'm out at dusk or night or trying to get a FTF the Mission Impossible song comes to mind. I sometimes purposely hum them to myself when out caching with my mom as she has a tendency to sing aloud the Bye Bye Birdie song and/or complain about the amount of trash we've come across so I do it to drown her out.

For urban caching, definitely "The City is My Jungle Gym" by Jack Johnson off the Curious George soundtrack. As for caching in the woods... we have had a few moments of "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" (Don't know who sings that one.)

BY U2 - had it on my phone for awhile:

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For lyrics

I have climbed highest mountain

I have run through the fields

Only to be with you

Only to be with you

I have run

I have crawled

I have scaled these city walls

These city walls

Only to be with you

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I rather like AC/DC "Highway to Hell", especially if I'm on some miserable hike through a pile of scrub and rocks.

"Flirtin' With Disaster" by Molly Hatchet also comes to mind occasionally.

I see no purpose for a theme song. But here are three previous "Theme Song" discussions.

For my hiking pages on AOL (soon to be dismantled) I used

Pink Floyd: The Lunatic Is in My Brain

Saine Saens: Danse Macabre

Moussgorsky: Night on Bald Mountain

Jobim: Aqua de Beber

Kaper & Washington: Green Dolphin Street

Grieg: Anitra's Dance & In the Hall of the Mountain King

All of which seem quite appropriate to me!

Whenever I get stumped while trying to find an easy cache I find myself whistling the song from the Wizard Of Oz, "If I Only Had A Brain". It just seems fitting sometimes... :(

That's funny! And reminds me that sometimes when I find the cache I think to myself "ding dong the witch is dead" as I'm crossing it off my list. :)

Sweet dreams are made of this,

Who am I to disagree?

I travel the world and the seven seas,

Everybody's looking for something.

Some of them want to use you,

some of them want to get used by you.

Some of them want to abuse you,

some of them want to be abused.

Not sure where to find it exactly, but what about "Don't Tell My Wife I'm Geocaching?" (She Thinks I'm Getting Drunk at the Bar...)

Amazon MP3. I bought a copy ;)

Note to self : check post date before replying next time. Duh!

I like to get to the caches out in the woods and let nature provide the theme music.

I might be dating myself, but this comes to my mind while GCing....

Hear and read about Happy Wanderer song

Lyrics...

A E7

I love to go a-wandering along the mountain track,

E7 D Bm D E7 A

And as I go, I love to sing, my knapsack on my back.

Refrain:

E7 A

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,

E7 A D A D

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

E7 A

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,

D E7 A

My knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream that dances in the sun;

So joyously it calls to me, come, join my happy song!?

Refrain:

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah, come, join my happy song.

I wave my hat to all I meet, and they wave back to me,

And blackbirds call so loud and sweet from ev'ry green wood tree.

Refrain:

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah, from ev'ry green wood tree.

Oh, may I go a-wandering until the day I die;

Oh, may I always laugh and sing beneath God's clear blue sky,.

Refrain:

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

Val-da-ree, val-da-rah, beneath God's clear blue sky.

Since I was out today caching and got all cut up, bruised, and ant bites, I decided to get a short ringtone "Highway To Hell". I changed all my geocaching buddies to this ringtone. I wanted to share it with anyone else if they wanted. Link is here for FREE! Awesome site to search for free ringtones.

Enjoy! Susan

Sometimes I get the music from Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit pop into my head when I'm out climbing over hills and mountains looking for adventure.

"The road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone and I must follow if I can..."

"Home is behind, the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread..."

Groundspeak was promoting a geocaching song for GIFF this year, so a group of us got together and recorded our own version.

It's a bit silly, and I don't think that I'd cache to it - but it was fun to do. B)

This was great! We need it made into a ringtone! :-)
