Gorge_Hiker Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 If you were to choose a song that was sort of a theme song for geocaching, what would it be? The reason I ask is I like to make little movies of my best geocache finds, and dub music to them. I thought it might be fun to as you guys what song would come to your mind, if any. Quote
Okiebryan Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 This likely isn't what you have in mind, but often when I'm out chasing FTFs in the middle of the night, riding my motorcycle to the cache site, then playing ninja in the darkness, the "Mission Impossible" theme gets stuck in my head. Quote
Dinoprophet Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) I can't think of a particular song, but in general, as background music to a video, I'd say something very rootsy, bluesy, instrumental, and minimalist. The soundtrack to "The Stand" is excellent, if a little on the eerie side. Edited October 16, 2008 by Dinoprophet Quote
Buggheart Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 It sort of depends on the location and time of day but quite often the Harry Potter or Braveheart themes pop into my head when I'm out in the woods. If I'm out at dusk or night or trying to get a FTF the Mission Impossible song comes to mind. I sometimes purposely hum them to myself when out caching with my mom as she has a tendency to sing aloud the Bye Bye Birdie song and/or complain about the amount of trash we've come across so I do it to drown her out. Quote
BlessedBees Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 For urban caching, definitely "The City is My Jungle Gym" by Jack Johnson off the Curious George soundtrack. As for caching in the woods... we have had a few moments of "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" (Don't know who sings that one.) Quote
LDove Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 BY U2 - had it on my phone for awhile: I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For lyrics I have climbed highest mountain I have run through the fields Only to be with you Only to be with you I have run I have crawled I have scaled these city walls These city walls Only to be with you But I still haven't found what I'm looking for But I still haven't found what I'm looking for Quote
Bamboogirl Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I rather like AC/DC "Highway to Hell", especially if I'm on some miserable hike through a pile of scrub and rocks. "Flirtin' With Disaster" by Molly Hatchet also comes to mind occasionally. Quote

briansnat Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I always liked by Apples in Stereo. The lyrics are kind of geocachy. Quote
hukilaulau Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 "Telstar" by the Tornados. This 1962 instrumental was inspired by the launch of the first communications satellite. Quote
Harry Dolphin Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 For my hiking pages on AOL (soon to be dismantled) I used Pink Floyd: The Lunatic Is in My Brain Saine Saens: Danse Macabre Moussgorsky: Night on Bald Mountain Jobim: Aqua de Beber Kaper & Washington: Green Dolphin Street Grieg: Anitra's Dance & In the Hall of the Mountain King All of which seem quite appropriate to me! JohnMac56 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Whenever I get stumped while trying to find an easy cache I find myself whistling the song from the Wizard Of Oz, "If I Only Had A Brain". It just seems fitting sometimes... Quote

SusanVette Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) Since I was out today caching and got all cut up, bruised, and ant bites, I decided to get a short ringtone "Highway To Hell". I changed all my geocaching buddies to this ringtone. I wanted to share it with anyone else if they wanted. Link is here for FREE! Awesome site to search for free ringtones. Enjoy! +CascadeHandmade Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Sometimes I get the music from Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit pop into my head when I'm out climbing over hills and mountains looking for adventure. "The road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone and I must follow if I can..." "Home is behind, the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread..." Quote
Ambrosia Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Groundspeak was promoting a geocaching song for GIFF this year, so a group of us got together and recorded our own version. It's a bit silly, and I don't think that I'd cache to it - but it was fun to do. Quote
