THANKS!

Now that GCF is over, I think I am going to miss my regular phone calls from Pghlooking and TMOCM. These guys were just awesome to work with...thanks guys! Thanks to some other locals that we could not have done without...Yime, D@nim@l, Anthus, Guyute1210 and Radioactive Coconut. I gotta mention 3 more folks, for putting up with so much during the past year...my hubby, Brenda and Heather. Now that the event is over, maybe we can do some caching (after I sleep for a week!).

There are so many more people that I would like to thank, but in fear of forgetting someone, I will say...a really BIG thanks to the vendors that participated in GCF (without you guys, we'd have no addiction and no GCF), the volunteers (you guys ROCK), the folks that donated stuff to the event (including some awesome last minute donations) and attendees (it was so great meeting folks that we've only talked to online).

Just wanted to say Thanks to everyone. You made my first MEGA event awesome. I had a great time. It was super to have met the ones I got to meet. There were so many people there, I never did get to talk to everyone. I came home with a load of coins and some great memories. Thanks again to all who put some much hard work into this.

Rod - enjoy the safety glasses, I know that they probably helped you get home...lol

A most sincere thankyinzsmall.jpg to Jim, Jim and LeNore for their painstaking efforts to make this event not only a success, but an absolute BLAST, along with big cheezburger lolz thankyinzsmall.jpg to D@n for being such a great lackey for the whole day.

And most of all, a heart-felt thankyinzsmall.jpg to everyone who stopped by to check out the stand and to say hello. Your kind words, hilarious stories and undying enthusiasm for geocoins is what makes this such a wonderful community to be a part of.

Boy did they ever. I stopped somewhere in Ohio as the sun was going down, had to put on a few layers as my vest wasn't keeping me warm as the temp dropped...threw the glasses on and thought of you! THANKS my friend for the loan...I promise to return them when I return to your neck of the woods...maybe we'll hit some local caches??? Or hey, come on down for our Nov 1st night event!! lolol

WOW, what a ride!!!

As the first event that USA Geocoins attended I also want to thank the organizers and folks that attended.

We were really nervous as not knowing what to expect. The organizers had everything WELL oraganized and ran things very effeciently.

It was also nice to meet so many people and put the names to the faces.

I think one of the nicest things was that there wasn't any of the fighting like in the forums and everyone had a great time and was really friendly.

It was also nice to talk to some of the other vendors that I've never met in person, only via e-mail. I would list names but I know there would be some I would forget. :-)

My son had a blast trading his DEAD coins.

Now I'm already trying to figure the best way to afford to make it out to Salt Lake City! :)

No, THANK YOU, Lenore, Pghlooking, TMOCM, your significant other and children for all the time and effort that it took to put the event together. It was absolutely perfect and we had a great time.

Got the opportunity to meet lots of the names I'v seen in here, met some fun cachers like NOSNOW and Shadow's Friend, (who I must tell you will follow you everywhere once you meet them lol lol), DKAY38, Blue Motmot, (whose seeking list I'll be checking out to see what other coins I have to send for the AWESOME Moose on the Loose coins and hershey bar coin she gave to me), Tsun...once again thank you, thank you, for your generosity and beautiful GCF Dragonfly Talisman coin and helping me with others. I even got to hug Mustang Joni, what a cool person in person :).

My list could go on and on but I won't do that to you all

Just thanks again for the fun and great memories of our first mega event.

Now go get some rest that you all deserve

Thanks to the entire group of volunteers and the committee for putting this together!

I could only make it up Saturday night but was glad to have the chance to meet a lot of the folks I've come to know through the forums and from many trades. I'm really sorry I couldn't make it back on Sunday. Heck - I had a few more coins to give away, too!

Just a quick question - what is YINZ? I know, I'm slow... :)

We got a funny way of yabberin' around here, mate! You really missed a ripper of time fossicking through coins that were up to your clacker. You'd think we were playing two up.

You should probably take those french fries out of your mouth before you start typing :D

Sounds like an awesome time was had by all. It has been fun watching the forums, seeing the new mystery coin and swag that was out and about.

I very bummed I couldn't make it hopefully, I will see some of the local fools at the next mega event down south ... I hear TN calling.

Oh, man! I just got back!

AA lost Hedge Hopper's bag. I don't know what I'm going to do without his dirty clothes to wash! LOL

Thanks to the committee for all their hard work. I know Jim, Lenore and Jim worked very hard to pull this thing off. And thanks to their families too! I know that they put up with alot!

The vendors were fantastic! What a great group! I so enjoyed walking around the room and spending every dime I had. Oh, and Eric K, that son of yours is a great trader! What a cool kid!

All the volunteers did such a great job!

Pete and Sonja did a fantastic job running the poker game. I had so much fun playing!

And it was so great to meet so many people from all over! Everybody was so nice!

All in all, this is one of the best trips I've ever taken!

Thanks to the Pittsburgh Committee for making this such a fun event. I know how hard you worked, as I saw you still working hard as the Poker Game was in play. I hope you were able to really enjoy yourselves... because I know that your Attendee's did! :)

We stayed after the event was over and just chatted with people in the lobby. We also maintained "266" for a good 2 hours refilling it with coins and goodies and giggling from the corner as people grabbed and ran.

Thanks to the Vendor's for all of the coins and goodies... You had one heck of a day on your feet!

You're so appreciated! :D

I met so many people for the very first time... and just want to Thank You for saying Hello.

It was great meeting so many of you. I'm home... and still feeling the warm fuzzies.

Thanks again, Pittsburgh! We had a BLAST!!!

PS: Hope you had a Happy Birthday Joni!

Wow! What an great event! It is the best event I've ever attended. It was so well organized and professionally done. Everything seemed to move along very smoothly. So many people, so many coins. The time flew by so fast that supper time would roll around before we even noticed that we hadn't even had lunch. At times it was overwhelming. We had such a blast. I got to meet so many of you that I've been chatting with over the last few years and got a chance to talk with many friends that I haven't seen since GW5. I want to thank everyone that I traded with. It was a lot of fun. I think that is the most trades I've ever made in one day.

The girls had a lot of fun trading their new personal coins. I want to give out a big thanks to everyone that traded with them. When the girls arrived home yesterday the very first thing they wanted to do was show me the coins they traded for. Then they immediately grabbed their coin collection binders and began putting their coins in them. When Sara woke up this morning the first words out of her mouth were "can I play with my new geocoins". Oh yeah, they are definitely addicted :D

LeNore, Cubby, and Jim you did an awesome job with the event!! Thanks for all your hard work, the many, many hours you put in, and the sacrifices you made to make this event a first-class event!

A true thank you to DresselDragons, TMOCM (The Mean Old Cubscout Master) and PGHLooking for a very well planned and executed event. Our best guess for attendance was around 620 (excluding dogs) and I personally met coiners from 33 different states! I also calculated there was over $1 million dollars worth of geocoins in the banquet hall :) The vendors were great to talk to, the coin stories were great, I bought more than I could afford, I traded more than I could remember, I gave a few personals away, handed out some Steel Musketeers and GCF Parrotheads and it was priceless to see all the smiles and laughs as people met for the first time.

Highlights of my weekend:

10. Getting tackled by signal the frog :)

9. Watching MustangJoni smear cupcake on her face during poker

8. What happens at Table 5, stays at table 5 :D

7. Room 266 was a blast! :D

6. Finding out Avroair is a girl, or was that a myth? :D

5. Hanging out at the Casino and losing $20 on slots B)

4. Being able to introduce Lil Miss Avroair to so many friends B)

3. Meeting Ernie :D

2. Being able to say: "My I look in your box" and not get slapped for it. :)

1. Kicking back in the Hotel bar with so many friends, old and new :D

Avroair was here. B)

This was my first coin event, and I was a little nervous. I 'know' the names from the forums and some folks from trades via mail, but I had not met anyone from here in person yet. While I was in line waiting to register for the meet and greet Friday night, The Moop Along comes through the line and says, "Go register later, Vanelle, we're already trading in there!". I am soon sitting down with most of the folks I have seen here, trading, chatting and feeling welcome. For that, thank you to everyone.

On Sunday the level of organization, activities and friendly faces was just astounding to me. THANK YOU and BRAVO to all the organizers who worked so hard to prepare for the event, and then to run the event all day. I especially appreciated the kid activities (I don't know if Lenore had a break for six straight hours back there), my kids had a blast.

This was my 1,400th cache milestone as well. A very special time all around.

Wish we could have stayed to watch the poker event, but we had a long drive back home - I am sure that was much fun.

Thanks again. It was fabulous.

Many kudos to the Dressel Dragons, PGHLooking, and TMOCM, for the tremendous commitment it took to put this event together! It was very well organized with many wonderful events and fun activities for geocachers of all ages. Your hard work was a shining example of the stellar event that we attendees enjoyed!

Thank you TMOCM for the wonderful time geocaching at Mingo Park! This was probably the "funnest and fastest" caching I have done!

Thank you Anthus for all of the time and effort in putting together the Keystone Minis. They turned out beautifully and I had so much fun trading them. It actually got me out there trading!

Thanks to all of the vendors, because without "yinz" we wouldn't have had this mega event in the first place!

And finally, thanks to all of you with whom I had the pleasure to meet, greet, and trade!

And just for the record-this was my first Mega event and I had to go all by myself. I could have been overwhelmed by all of the things going on and all of the people and all of the coins. . .well, actually, I was overwhelmed when I first got there, but honestly, every single person I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. They shared their knowledge and encouraged me not to be "scared" to trade. So, the moral of this story is: if you don't want to come to a mega event because you have no one with whom to travel-don't be afraid. My experience tells me, if there are geocachers (especially of the coin addicted variety :D) around, you will have a friend ready and willing to help you and guide you!

Just got home from a long day of flying...

Kudos to the GCF crew who did a really great job organizing the event. I'm sure they are all glad it's over.

Didn't get in until real late Saturday night (about 11:30 pm), found out the party moved to the casino where everyone was stone-cold sober with plenty of intelligent conversation :) :)

Got to meet quite a few people, as always, nice to put faces to names and there is never enough time to just sit down and talk to people. I enjoyed myself, missed a few people I can see by the logs on the event and here :D

I actually heard someone use 'Yinz' at the waffle house, I had a good laugh over that one.

I didn't do as much trading as I should have because I was too busy talking and just giving away coins for the most part. So I guess my luggage was a bit lighter on the way home. Speaking of that, TSA went through my bag and my coins, lol. Everything was rearranged and moved in my coin boxes. I haven't had time to see if anything was missing. Let's hope the Yimes I picked up for those of you who wrote me are in there :D

Thanks everyone for a really nice time and for those who found me to introduce themselves, I'm glad I went and I'm very excited about heading to SLC GCF 09.

dflye: I still can not believe you brought all those coins. For anyone who doesn't know, he had to roll all his fancy binders in on a handcart. Every binder was color coded for traders or keepers. He had boxes for coins he received and special mystery coins. He even keeps a very thick, neat paper list of coins with pictures, and marks stuff off as it gets traded. I've never seen anything like it, I still can't get over the entire table he took up with his coinage. Sorry Dan, it's just amazing to a unorganized goofball like me. I can't even remember who I gave a coin too after 5 minutes and everything was scattered in my backpack.

I had one really neat thing happen after the 'Meet the Designers' session. I had a couple come up to me and ask me if I was tsunrisebey. I would have lied but i had my name tag on, lol. Anyhow, they were telling me about a Rainbow Bridge coin out there in PA. I thought they were asking me if I designed the coin and I told them it was dorkfish. Well it turns out that wasn't it, long story short.... there is a Rainbow Bridge coin that someone released in memory of my dog 'Cowboy' to find it's way to me in Montana. They had just placed it in the a cache north of P'burgh. They were telling me about the stories that people were logging about people who have lost their pets and posting pictures as the coin has been making it's way West. Needless to say, I had a tough time keeping my composure as they talked about the mission of this coin. I didn't get their caching names but they were going to try and find the coin again to get it to me. I don't know who releases that coin in memory of Cowboy (for the time being) but if you read this, thank you, that was really a touching story they told me and I can only hope that coin finds it's way to me and I can tell you (whoever you are) thank you! We have some really wonderful coiners out there!

Off to bed.... gonna be a long day at work :) Can't wait to pick up my dogs after work.

The side events where great and a special thanks to D@nim@l for our wonderful Kayak tour. The kids and I had a great time. :anibad:

LeNore and Cubby - you guys outdid yourselves with the kid activities. The set-up and location was wonderful; even though the day was very long (sorry Kevin got a little rammy during poker) you made the day fun for him and his big brother and I (not having to worry about him all the time) Kevin made lots of new friends.

To all the great people I met - thanks for the fun and friendship. I look forward to seeing you again.

One more thing - for those going to SLC next year VOLUNTEER! It is such a great way to meet people and helping the committee feels great

Thanks for the kind words about Derek. He had a blast! It was weird for us to see him be so sociable. Usually he's kind of shy. Every time we turned around we were going, "Where did Derek go?" Sure enough he was out walking about making trades. It was all worth it for us just to see him have so much fun!

The only bad thing is he'll be disappointed if I don't find some way to get him out to SLC next year!

Lenore and the Jims, you did an awesome job! I really enjoyed getting to know each of you better. You were a joy to work with! I think that vendors usually have a good idea how a event is going to go just by our interactions with the commitee. You guys did not disappoint. You were so organized and on top of things. It showed and I heard no one complaining. Thank you so much for making all of us look so good!

The place was packed! All the tables were full of coins boxes and those small little things with holes in them.

From what I remember of Saturday night it was a blast! I am sure the part I don't remember was even MORE fun!

Making new friends, catching up with long time friends and getting to know my frienemies better was so easy with so much at this location. The location was really perfect and worked out great!

Thanks again for all the hard work and effort!

Can't think of anything new to add to all the thanks above, so big thanks to the organizing committee, volunteers, vendors, geocoin poker players and all the other geocoin folks that I swapped coins, tags and stories with! The day went by quickly, had lots of fun trading with the younger collectors that came by (I think Hawkeyes Nick from team Fingers Crossed and I traded a dozen different times over the course of the weekend! :) ) Had a nice long chat with Rothstafari about the new iPhone geocaching app and coins in general (thanks for the you know what! ) Was great to put names to faces to the many folks I've traded with and/or encountered on these forums. The generosity of coin collectors at the event was truly impressive, both the ones you can see and the mystery coiners! :anibad:

Totally awesome event! MEGA thanks to Jim, Lenore & Jim. You did an outstanding job.

Pete & Sonya did their usual terrific job with the poker tournament. Always a fun time especially when the table has no clue what it is doing. Uh. Yeah. Sure.

To the vendors who keep us in coinage & poker, thanks for bringing the fun to us in person.

Thanks to all who traded coins and Pathtags with us. What a blast! Still have to go through the stash as we only got home at 4am. Can't wait to see what we have because I sure don't remember it all.

Thanks to everyone who was so nice and friendly to my kids. They had a fantastic time because of so many of you!

Caching around the area, getting into Pittsburgh for that sandwich. Now that made for some great fun. We did make it to Mingo, despite the little guys bad cold, and that place just rocks for caching. Missed some other planned things but take what you can get! It was all fun.

The best was seeing old friends & making new ones. Awesome!

Thanks everyone!

So who won the poker tournament??

A local cacher named greenbark. I think he has about 5 coins, all from the Pittsburgh local caching group TRIGO or PA state coins. He came just for the fun of playing the game and ended up winning.

Congrats GREENBARK  That should be enough to get him addicted like we are!! lol

Well we sure had a great weekend at GCF! From the gorgeous ride south to the fun in the lounge Sat. nite. We were made to feel very welcome by all we met. We bought alot of beautiful coins and recieved several very generous gifts. It was just awesome to meet the designers and distributers. The most fun was the trading with all of the folks that we feel like we already know from here on the forums. I guess I should have made a trip to the casino too since my luck was running so high. I actually got stopped on the way home doing 70mph in a 55mph constuction zone and DIDN'T GET A TICKET!!

Thanks to all the GCF staff for the excellent job they did.

We had an absolutely fantastic weekend! You guys and gals really put on an amazing event and it was fascinating to watch all of the wheeling and dealing going on. About the only thing we missed was the poker game since we had to get back to the dog at the hotel. It was really nice finally getting to meet so many wonderful people and put faces with the names we see everywhere. Congrats again on your well planned event!
