Colorado vs. Oregon

Okay, so the Colorado has the 'rock-n-roller' wheel and the Oregon has a touchscreen. Besides their apparent physical differences what else is different between the two?

One thing you may want to notice is that the Colorado uses standard (full sized) SD cards and the Oregon uses micro-SD (also called trans flash) cards.

Currently the Oregon track manager supports displaying multiple & different colored tracks on the screen at the same time, where the Colorado only supports the current track and one additional track.

Yeah, Full SD vs. Micro-SD is a moot point in my opinion. It's not like one is 'better' than the other, but yes it is a difference.

Having handled both, and inspecting the Oregon's battery cover it almost seems like the Oregon would hold up better to being submerged in water? The way the Colorado's rear cover slides on/off makes me uneasy compared to the Oregon's clamp-down style.

Since a lot of the differences so far seem to be software, I wonder if its just a matter of time before those things trickle down to the Colorado?

Having fought vainly with two Colorados over an eight month period whilst apparently acting as a beta tester and still seeing no answer in sight to the drift problems I am about to give up on it.

It has to be one of the biggest blunders that Garmin has made.

At long last Garmin has admitted the problem, has offered no solution and suggests that they are unsure when a solution will be offered.

To be honest after eight months this is just not good enough.

A gps that for no apparent reason suggests you are several hundred feet from your actual position is worse than no gps at all.

It would appear (so far) that the oregon has a lot less problems and is a safer bet.

I would point out here that Garmin help has been as good as they are allowed to be.

They have been unfortunately let down by a release at least six months too early in my view.

Ok, having used both (the Colorado over a 6 month period and the Oregon just recently), I find that the Oregon is more accurate than the Colorado and seems to track better.
