3yotas
My Garmin eTrex Legend tends to shut off on its own and then display a blank screen with a blue line down the middle. If I remove the batteries, I can turn it back on but it is just a matter of time until the black screen and blue line return. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. savant9
Update to the most current firmware. I believe that issue has a fix....its something to do with WAAS Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
A good place to start. Check this thread: Garmin eTrex Legend Start-Up Problems, vertical screen lines; Quote Link to comment
Stroover
It's a WAAS problem. You can either disable WAAS in your setup tab, or go to the Garmin website and download the web updater to your computer, then upload this to your gps. It'll fix it. Worked for me. Quote Link to comment

I had the same problem with my Garmin etrex Vista. I updated from 3.70 to 3.80 and a quick check shows it fixed my problem. Quote Link to comment
Magick
Same problem here with an eTrek Legend Blue. Out of nowhere it started going to a blank screen with a single vertical line after it "Acquired Satellites". The device worked fine indoors with the GPS turned off. It would only error after the satellite acquisition completed. Thanks to the info from this and the other thread found here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=204544 Downloaded, and flashed the new version of the OS (3.90 from 3.70) and it was back. Thanks for the tips. Quote Link to comment
