lovetocachewithkids Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Here is a good spin on geocaching. Just after grabbing a cache in the forest behind our local Community College, we decided to follow the newly created path around the campus. As we rounded the corner and climbed the hill, we found a log, smouldering. At first we thought it was negligence, but it seems to been possibly spontainious combustion. We dumped our water on, but as the breeze picked up, so did the glow on the log. Sad part was, when I called public safety for the college they told me everyone "was busy dealing with a traffic situation" I'm sorry, but if you don't make this a priority for someone to come out with a 5 gal bucket or something, then im calling the fire department. Ten minutes later, 2 public safety workers found us. I can't imagine the devastation of the 43 acres behind the school, let alone the school and nearing neighborhoods. . . Quote
+Zac Young Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 That is a very cool story. I can't believe that those people would not come out, that's just ludicrous. Congratulations! Another great reason our sport is great for the environment and the community! Quote
+SUp3rFM & Cruella Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Great story to tell. Well done! I still recall the story of some lost hikers in the snow that gave their location correctly to the search an rescue because they found a geocache container! Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Excellenet job. I always thought that the world is better off for having geocachers in it, than without. Quote
