+pikeville_cacher Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I have been granted permission to place 6 EarthCaches in a park here in Kentucky but for only a short period of time; less than a year. The way the permit reads is "This form may be used to permit either LONG TERM (not to exceed 5 yrs) or SHORT TERM (not to exceed 1 yr) uses. ". Short term was the box checked. This park would be a great place for EarthCaches but what I am wondering is, is it worth it in the long run to have them there only a year. Or better yet, could I even get them published on being there just a short period of time. Thanks!! Quote
+TerryDad2 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 The Devils Postpile NM did the same thing to me. They explained that they wanted to see how the visitation affects the resources. This is a new concept to them and they are being cautious. If after a year, there are still no concerns, I could reapply for a long term permit. My EarthCaches were published. It is a tool that the managers are using so that they can request the EarthCache be delisted without much fuss. I would go ahead and do it. Quote

Like I said this place would be great for EarthCaches and I wanted to give people the chance to visit it. I'll call the cheif ranger and talk to him about a long term deal after the first year Quote
