Decidion
I am looking for a secure 60 csx mount, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I have had problems with Garmin windshield suction cup mounts in the past...the darn thing would never stay attached to the glass. I do a lot of off-road driving, so I need something secure. For example I don't think a bean bag type would work at all...it would just slide around. I currently have a vent mount, but its a pain to attach/remove, and when I have the AC on, not only does it block the airflow, but also causes condensation on the back of the gps unit. I also want to avoid any sort of permanently mounted dash mount or anything else that screams "break in and steal a GPS unit". I realize that eliminates the vast majority of mounts, but does anyone have any other ideas? Quote Link to comment

Decidion
Thanks, I just went and checked those out. One question...does the windshield suction cup hold better than the Garmin suction cup mount? Quote Link to comment
+roadrage64
Thanks, I just went and checked those out. One question...does the windshield suction cup hold better than the Garmin suction cup mount? I've got both the Garmin and Ram mounts for my 60CSx. There is no comaprison, the RAM is far superior in every way. As far as the suction cup goes, it's about 3 to 4 times larger and significantly stronger. You definitely wont have a problem with it sticking to the windshield and it eliminates about 99% of the vibration. When I first got my Ram mount, I stuck it onto the kitchen table and was able to lift the table off the ground! Try that with the Garmin mount. Quote Link to comment
+Team LRS
I have the garmin mount in my off roader.......it used to bounce a lot until i adjusted it so the base of the unit rests on the dash while the suction cup is help firm. Quote Link to comment
+DustyWalker
RAM makes a twist lock suction cup as well as a regular one. Is one better than the other in anyones experience? Quote Link to comment
+DocDiTTo
RAM makes a twist lock suction cup as well as a regular one. Is one better than the other in anyones experience? I have and highly recommend the twist lock. It uses a smaller suction cup but holds extremely well to a clean windshield. Clean glass is key with any suction mount. Quote Link to comment
+Team_LPD
The mount I have uses the twist lock suction cup. Holds a lot better than the Garmin model. I've had mine in place for most of the year and it has not come loose yet. Quote Link to comment
+ProsperoDK
As with the others here I can only recommend the RAM-mount. I have this combo: A 3.25" twist-lock suction cup mount with an adaptor plate and the Garmin GPSr cradle which I had recommended to me here in the forums over the RAM-mount cradle. Which looks like this in the car: ProsperoDK/René Quote Link to comment
Decidion
Wow thanks for the great pictures Prospero Do you have any vibration issues with your setup? Quote Link to comment
+Team_LPD
The RAM is rock solid and there is no vibration. I can be cruising down the highway at speed and the GPS is rock steady. Quote Link to comment
+ProsperoDK
Wow thanks for the great pictures Prospero Do you have any vibration issues with your setup? On normal asphalted roads, none, on gravel or dirt roads it might vibrate just slightly, but because of the weight of the arm it doesn't intensify itself as if it hit a resonance frequency. The slight vibration is not enough to make it a problem seeing the display. ProsperoDK/René Quote Link to comment
+NoHandsGPS
You could try one of my www.nohandsgps.com holder. If you don't mind adding velcro to your dash the holder could serve a dual purpose. I have not tried this yet. If you want to test it out for me I will send you one free. If you like it, keep it, if you don't like it I just ask that you send it back. Email me if interested. Quote Link to comment
+AD0SB
I bought the RAM mount on the way home from work today, two things: 1. Simply an awesome mount kit! 2. I should have bought it a month ago. Quote Link to comment
RenHoek
Another vote for the twist-lock suction cup RAM mount - Also, you can pull out door-dents with it (I'm serious - it's THAT good). -RenHoek Quote Link to comment
Decidion
Well I got my RAM mount today and all I can say is this thing is ROCK SOLID I'll need to get a longer power cable to mount it where I really want it, but the mount itself is far superior to the Garmin mount I had for my eTrex, and for about the same price. I highly recommend this mount: Ram mount at gpscity.com . Quote Link to comment
