Set the datum to WGS84 (Menu=>Menu=>Setup=>Location=>MapDatum=>WGS 84) and the coordinates to Degrees Decimal Minutes (Menu=>Menu=>Setup=>Location=>Location Format=>hddd°mm.mmm)

If you bought it new, it's set up correctly for geocaching right out of the box.

I usually set up the compass page with one large readout set to distance. The very large arrow and number makes it easy to see at a glance if your going the right way.

thanks.. what about the nearest cache feature?? mine does not automatically update i have to go back and tell it to search again.. any help??

The 72 doesn't have a special geocaching feature but you can setup your waypoint screen to show the nearest waypoints to your location. (NAV=>Go To Point=>Waypoints=>Menu=>Find Nearest). Note that when you have your waypoint list setup this way it will not show all the waypoints but only those close to you.

i know how to do that.. but if i drive down theroad and a closer one appears it does not automatically update.. i have to do that process again o see what is closer..
