CacheMiner72
Ok so since I just started this coin collecting hobby/turning into an obsession, I don't have a lot in the trade department. I am wondering if peoples trade list kind of double as for sale lists. I have had a few great members on here help me get started by selling me a few of there traders but without inventory to trade I am at a disadvantage when it comes to getting more. Any guidance would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
MustangJoni
I know a few people who will sell from their trade list, but I prefer trading. But that being said, I don't absolutely refuse to sell stuff on my trading list. Quote Link to comment
Rockin Roddy
Maybe buy some of the current coins coming out and trade with those who'd rather trade than buy? Several coin companies have nice coins out right now! Good luck!! Quote Link to comment
Cheesy pigs
Welcome to the obsession I'd say, that if you look at a trade list, and it has dollar amounts added to it, then it is also a for sale list. Some people do, some dont. But if you buy two of the same coins at a geocoin shop, use one as a trader - that way your lists get boosted quite quickly Quote Link to comment
Droo
A great way to get traders is to mint your own personal coin. It'll be unique and no one else will have it. I'd say folks will be banging at your door offering you their traders in exchange for your own personal coin. Once you've exhausted the traders hit the buyers by selling them to cover your minting costs. Quote Link to comment
Fiery Searcher
A response from another newbie: To echo Mustang Joni, I prefer trades. My trading/seeking list is attached to an activated geocoin of mine (thank you, Vanelle, for the code!), and anything listed as "for trade" would be gladly traded for something on my seeking list (or for something else!). Although I am new at this, I really enjoy making trades - probably because they are so novel to me! An aside - I can see why one might prefer sales over trades. One visit to the other side of the "bay" and it is no wonder trades seem (are?) rare - it is dazzling in a sad way, particularly for those of us with mostly new stuff. Perhaps some of the more experienced collectors and designers could weight in the pros and cons of trading vs. selling, and offer any insight into recent trends for both? Quote Link to comment
FluteFace
My 'available' coins are trade only. I've made it a point to put that I only trade at the top of my traders list, but it doesn't seem to work very well. About half of those that offer to buy manage to work out a trade anyway. +TeamEccs21
We have a personal coin that is trade only...though we have been talked into selling 2 of them to folks with no traders that really wanted the coin. I think I would sell a coin off of our trader list if nothing else could be worked out. Quote Link to comment
cache_in_hand
We also have a trackable personal coin with icon that we intend to keep fairly exclusive although we did list just one of them on ebay to see if anyone would actually buy it (and because we had never sold anything before to see what that was like). We will see how the experiment ends this Sunday. Truth is, we have accumulated several coins but don't think we would ever trade them LOL. Hard to have a traders list if you don't ever want to give one up. I guess time will eventually remedy that some day. Quote Link to comment
earthrooster
I've mostly traded but I'm always open to sell too (and have done so with a few newbies ) Quote Link to comment
CLAMM
Many of my coins are for sale too - some are trade only.. Quote Link to comment
The Moop Along
Most anything's for sale, for the right offer Seriously though, I don't mind cash offers on trackable items. I never ever sell a non-trackable, that not allowed Quote Link to comment
