Sorry about that, a typo. I typed that out minutes before I left for work, I didn't even notice.

 

KAboom and I have 7 caches in place wiht plans for a total of 28 hidden (some were left from last year and do not count to this) While out looking around, we found a large snapping turtle, it must have come out too early and was caught by surprise by the snow which was still on the ground at the time, the last visit brought us to another turtle, not sure what this one was (smooth shell), but it too was likely out too early and met the same cold fate...it was also large, about the size of a platter! We also ran across a large snake which was definitely NOT dead, a large Garter snake! We will be featured on a podcast (the next one provided I remember to do the interview, I forgot yesterday and am making a trip in today to do it), and yes, I am a bi nervous as I always am when dealing with people. You know that Tod's brother came and finished with Tod's headstone and the last thing, I got a mild sunburn while at work, yesterday made it a bit worse. I am used to this as I burn every year regardless of how I try not to!!

NO, quite large really, about as big around as a basketball in both cases! I actually thought the second one was the first until further examination showed it had a smooth shell instead of the jagged snapping turtle's back!

 

Yes, the dreaded sun, burns and I have been friends since when I was a kid, the dangers of an outdoor seasonal job! I sure hope it goes to a tan soon, I hate peeling! It doesn't hurt, just red!

Rod I have to be careful with sunburns also What I do is always wear at least a ball cap If the wind isn't blowing a broad brimed hat. Then The best thing I statred to do was were long sleeve shirts. You would think they would be Hot but the sweat evaporates and keeps you cool. The hat is a must with my bald head. Have you ever burned the top of your head? It Hurts. The worst burn I recieved was Snowmobiling at 12000 feet Took my helmet off (Yes always wore my helmet} 5 minutes later scorched!!!

ABSOLUTELY!!! I saw your email last night and just forgot to send you a reply, sorry about that!!

 

As for the riders on the wrong side of the road...bad, very bad!! I am glad you saw them!! I ran across a lady driver yesterday ho thought the easiest way to take a lind curve was to simply change lanes and keep the same speed...YIKES! I was behind her and, upon getting into her proper lane again, I passed and gave her a bit of my mind (and not overly friendly about it either)...if you cannot drive in your own lane, please STAY OFF THE ROADS and not put others in danger!! That act was about as stupid and dangerous as I have sen in awhile, had someone came around the curve from the opposite side....

 

Another thing...if you HAVE to check on your GPS, answer the phone etc, PLEASE find a safe location and pull off! I met a lady at an intersection (she again was in front of me) who made a sudden lane change before stopping for the light. When I pulled up beside her, I saw she was fumbling with a device and yelled that she should be driving and not playing (I thought it was a gameboy or something). She rolled her window down and mentioned she was lost and the device was a GPS, to which I exclaimed I knew about those, being a cacher...she was too!!!! Fancy that! Today I went to the Dutch Geocaching Multi Event. The day started with three several entry caches, depending on the route you came into the event location. I went to meet a team and had to take the freeway to Amsterdam. Near the location I needed to be the travoic was jammed and the road was blocked because of an accident. An hour later I was guided, by the police, along the place of the accident and I saw a windshield of a motorcycle lying on the road. A motorcyclist had crashed against a car in front of him. He didn't see the car make a sudden stop. It is a small and crowdy peace of feeway. We all saw the trauma hellicopter take off to hospital, but it was to late. The man died.

 

I was so shook up that I forgot to share my pocket coin; I couldn't talk about what was happenend. In the evening I shared the story with a Czech cacher and gave him my pocket coin to drop in a Czech cache. That coin will travel. I will change the mission and activate another pocket cointomorrow night plus the extra coins I already promised to activated. We do need to get the word out there, don't we?

 

I did notice a befriended cacher wearing two look twice coins attached to his head today. He is not in the list shown here. I will see if I can locate them, to show you.

Well, I just wanted to share this; I am sorry I still am very upset about what has happened.

Marit, I am so sorry that you had to go through that today to get to an event that was supposed to be a day of fun for you. I cannot imagine what must have been going through your mind. I do know that if it were me in your shoes I probably wouldn't have even bothered to make it to the event. This example goes to show everyone just how much we all need to get the word out there, to prevent accidents like this from happening.

Oh, my friend, I hope you have rebounded from the sadness a bit. It's stories like these that make me want to really get more coins out, I am going to buy a bunch of cheap coins just to travel. Unsure who's fault that accident was, but yes, we MUST pay CONSTANT attention to the roads!!

Well everyone, I went to help my friend with his Jackson event yesterday, we want to spread the word of keeping the earth clean and healthy....but when we got there...

 

KAboom and I spent the morning trying to get ready, I went to the course to call the podcasters (the interview), mailed some packages and bustled about preparing. Unfortunately, no one was at the park when we showed up! No one at all, not a single shelter, no tables or chairs or booths, no singing or kids getting ballooons...what the heck? Since we were an hour early,we decided to wait and see what came of the situation, but at 20 minutes until event time, I KNEW something was up, we had booths set up and ready way before that time last year!! We called it a day and headed into Lansing to find some caches.

 

The problem?? The event is TODAY!!! D'OH! Well, this truly causes problems since we'd already rented our kayaks for this morning so we could put out the water/kayak cache for the LHD III! Since I am the VP for my region of MiGO, I MUST attend the event, I have he canopy and banner, but we'll now lose our rental money and lose another day of prep time...OUCH! We could have rented the kayaks yesterday after finding the mstake, but there was a Red Wings game at 6pm and it was already 1pm...no time.

 

Girls Scouts are next Saturday, wow. We're not getting much done!

 

As for the interview....I was soooo nervous and it was a one-ended call (I was talking into a machine), I fear it wasn't very good. I stammered and stuttered and lost my way, so I hope they can work some magic on it and get something they can use...I am always nervous when talking to people, this was no different except I didn't have anyone to keep me on track!
