burgessfour Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I know I had a cutoff date for entries into the race and that we are now adding coins after the date...I was wondering how everyone felt about this? I don't want to upset anyone with the change in rules. My plan is to get the last few coins I have into the game, then we'll see how it goes. I don't think we'll be releasing too many more considering I only have a few left. Will the addition of more coins later on be OK with everyone or should I stop all entries after this last cointest?? It's your call everyone. Please email me your response so it's a confidential vote, I will abide by the vote! PLEASE...only vote if you are participating in the race. Again, I don't want anyone to be upset with the way this is being held, I merely wish to get as many coins out raising bike awareness as possible! One last thing...post the mileage of your coin which has traveled the furthest please, so I can get an idea of how the travels are going! Also, please post if any of your coins have gone missing already!! OH...and more laws for bikes please!!! Keep them coming! Email Sent Here is my biggest mover TB1A9Z3 Woo Hoo, I just now figured out how to make the linkys work!!! Quote
burgessfour Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Okay, cointest time! From the Oregon Department of Transportation: In Oregon The most important rule to remember is ride on the right, in the same direction as the traffic next to you. It’s the law. Quote
RifleMan81 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 (edited) Ohio bike law (same as for motor vehicles) § 4511.36. Rules for turns at intersections. The driver of a vehicle intending to turn at an intersection shall be governed by the following rules: (A) Approach for a right turn and a right turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway. ( <---my letter B turned into a smiley At any intersection where traffic is permitted to move in both directions on each roadway entering the intersection, an approach for a left turn shall be made in that portion of the right half of the roadway nearest the center line thereof and by passing to the right of such center line where it enters the intersection and after entering the intersection the left turn shall be made so as to leave the intersection to the right of the center line of the roadway being entered. Whenever practicable the left turn shall be made in that portion of the intersection to the left of the center of the intersection. Thanks for the contest. +RifleMan81 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Here's a good one, again from Ohio. § 4511.54. Prohibition against attaching bicycles and sleds to vehicles. No person riding upon any bicycle, coaster, roller skates, sled, or toy vehicle shall attach the same or self to any streetcar, trackless trolley, or vehicle upon a roadway. Reminds me of the move Back to the Future when he hitches a ride while on his skateboard. Quote
burgessfour Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I thought this was interesting........ 814.487 Exemptions from protective headgear requirements. A person is exempt from the requirements under ORS 814.485 and 814.486 to wear protective headgear, if wearing the headgear would violate a religious belief or practice of the person. Quote
Team Black-Cat Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 A motorist passing a bicyclist in the same lane is required to give the bicyclist at least 3 feet of clearance, and to maintain that clearance until safely past. [346.075] A bicyclist passing a stopped or moving vehicle is also required to give at least 3 feet of clearance when passing. [346.80(2)©] Quote

Rockin Roddy Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 OK everyone, just off the phone with Rothstafari, we can open a topic in the GENERAL FORUMS which I will do in a little while. The topic will be named GEOBIKING: ALL THINGS CACHING AND BIKING! This is a big leap for us, we can now open the thread and it should be OK as long as we focus on biking and caching! When the thread is opened, please feel free to drop in and post as often as you'd like, we are hoping the post is well received and might be able to expand it into our own sub-forums in time! This is more or less a testing of the interest, so the more we can get to visit, the better! Keep a watch for the thread to open, I want to think about what the opening post should say! Quote
