There's a reason that I was specific to say that I was at Flying J to start and end, and also why I mentioned the Road miles PLUS the Straight Line(crow) miles.

 

It has to do with the both the straight line between my parking spots at the start and end of the trip, and the route I drove, which was obviously not a straight line.

KAboom and I are planning on grabbing up the rest of the caches in Hayes Park this afternoon, about 5 miles of alking is planned, but I like it! We're also working on a plan to revamp the tribute cache we have out for Tod, I want to add a few features which will really make the hide a much better experience. This means a whole new cache, but only a handful of people have found it so far anyways!! That's another couple miles of walking!!

I plan to arrive as early as I can on Friday(stay through Sun.). It will all depend on what happens with loads, and when they can release me to come over there. If they get me stuck somewhere, I may not even make it until Sat. but I will not know for sure until very close to the actual date. If I get there thursday, I may even try to get in the night before? I don't even know if that's possible, but I can always sleep down the road. Do they have first come first served on sites that are not reserved? I guess I will take a look at their website to get familiar with what I'm heading in to.

No worries there, we planned the event on this date mainly because of the flexibility of the park during the "pre-season"!! If you come in early, we'll be able to get you taken care of! I also liked that in the coords given, the numbers after the decimal point in both of them are palindromes (the same forwards and backwards). I notice stuff like that because my b-day is also a palindrome. I was born 7 January 1971. In the states, the shorthand is 1/7/71, which is the same forwards and backwards.

I double checked before I left, as I was backing out of my spot in El Paso, and if the truck is moved only 3-5 feet(1-2 meters) then the intersecting point would be different. Before I left, I thought that this might occur in as many as three places(since the roads curve and turn) but there was only this one.

 

These things were important to figure out the answer(if you were actually figuring, and not guessing)

1. Knowing my exact location at start and finish

2. Knowing that I did not drive in a straight line

3. knowing some places I stopped along the drive(to see the roads I took)

 

I told you it was obscure and difficult. I have no doubt that your local Puzzle Cache Expert would solve it in a hurry.

That's a very good try. I didn't measure that, but it would be amazing if both were true of the same location. If the lines crossed there, and the miles matched there also, I certainly would have been abducted by aliens there too...

I only had the coords of the start and end given by the Flying J web site so they wouldn't have been specific enough to get that exact answer and my map of Texas is in four pages so it would have been tough to actually draw a line and see if it would be approximately close. (Actually I think that my atlas should be renamed Robert's Road Atlas of the US since it has so many spots circled and routes highlighted on it by now!! )

I had been working on using zip codes and phones numbers using the coords but nothing came of that as you probably guessed! LOL That was a very interesting puzzle! Thanks for more fun Robert!!!

 

Now I'm off to an event called Get out and Geocache or something like that. Its supposed to be really nice here today so it should be fun!!

Boy did I screw up today. I hosted my very first event today, a meet & greet, and I forgot my pocket coins at the house. Could have had a lot of discoveries today. Guess with it being the first event I have hosted, my mind was elsewhere.

I am amazed at all the coins we have traveling, this is great! I will definitely mention all this to the ABATE people when we chat, I'm working on ways to best maximize the use of the funds we're hoping to make with the sales of the coins.

 

On a side note: Remember the coins I was working on with Mike Atwell...our personal coins?? I hear they will also be done soon! WOW!! I hadn't planned on them both coming out around the same time, but I am really REALLY excited about all of this!

 

I'm writing our local paper's contact, he writes for the Lifestyles section (articles and stories about everyday living and such). I hope to get that story about Tod and bike awareness rekindled now that it's spring!! Things are starting to happen faster and faster, I need to get moving!

Here's a new series to work on that should take us a while. There will be several prizes in these games, and they will each be in a different category. The Prize Coins will be "Special Look Twice Coins"(keepers, not adoptions) which are only available from me, not for sale yet(may be sold later, who knows).

First Question...

Find a "Todie's Wild Ride" Coin that has had the most "Discover" logs. Post your answer here.

The answer should be in this format...

"TB2BJCT has had Two Discoveries"

Here are some rules...

1. You can post ANYONE's Coin as an entry.(It doesn't have to be your own coin, in fact, you can enter even if you don't have any coins in the race)

2. The Coin you enter cannot be one that YOU have Discovered.

3. Any edited post does not count.

4. Only ONE entry per day per person.

5. I reserve the right to post new rules as questions arise.

 

This should look like a Bidding War, where the next entry will have more Discover logs than the last entry.(there's no sense in entering a Coin with five if someone else has already entered one with seven).

Picking the winner...

At the end of the round I will go and verify the winning bid and if it is correct, then it will win. That does not mean that no other Coins have more Discoveries, but just that the winner was the highest one listed as an entry. I should be headed back to Salt Lake City after this load. Once I am there, I will eventually end up at my favorite Coffee Shop, and will determine the winner of this round at that time. Future rounds will each have their own deadilne.

 

These Games will require all the players to go and look at the logs of many/all the Todie's Wild Ride Coins, and pay attention to what you see there. As you do so, look at other details to keep in mind for the next rounds. I will not announce in advance what detail to look for next. What you are looking for may get more detailed/dificult as we progress.
