GOOD MORNING everyone!! Yesterday was BEAUTIFUL, 70's and clear sky, but a bit windy!! We had a lot of golfers, this is a welcome sight for us!!

I have an idea fro some new questions, but will not be able to get things going until possibly later tonight or something....we'll see!! In the mean time:

PAY ATTENTION, bikes are everywhere!! Spring is here and more and more bikes are on the roads, including kids with their bicycles...and we all know how coordinated some of these youngsters can be when they just start riding again after a long wait!! Watch out for those too excited to watch for themselves, watch for those who are tricky to see at times....PAY ATTENTION!!!

I just posted this to the MiGO forums, I think this should be posted here too:

With the warm weather comes the youngsters and the not so youngsters on their bikes, skateboards, rollerblades etc....and it brings out the motorcycles as well, PLEASE WATCH OUT!! Remember that kids are eager to get out and play, they might not always look both ways before crossing the roads or they may still be a bit wobbly on the bikes they haven't been riding for a few months! Give them a bit more attention and room, make sure they stay safe! Likewise, motorcyclists are getting out and hitting the roads, PLEASE give us a bit more room when following, and please don't crowd that center lane.

Why not crowd the center, the biker is?

Bikers do tend to ride near the center line, we do this ON PURPOSE in most cases. Reason....by keeping to the center of your lane, you are right where the loose impediments and oils/water collects, this could make for screwy riding and danger. By riding the right side, you are now pretty much limiting your "outs" should something go wrong in front of you. Riding the far left of your lane offers the most "outs" in case of trouble, offers better riding conditions than the center and offers us the best chance of being NOTICED by oncoming traffic as well as those behind us!

If a motorist crowds the center, the biker's attention is drawn to this action, we tend to watch for dangers like a driver crossing into our lane. If we're giving more attention to YOU, we could miss something that could be just as or even more dangerous...don't make us worry about your actions! Also, riders sometimes need to make quick moves to avoid an animal, a pothole or whatever, if we need to get over and you're already there, where are we to go?? PLEASE don't take our riding near the center as being rude, PLEASE give us due room!!

Why is that bicycle on the road and in my way??

Bikes have just as much right to the roads as do cars, PLEASE GIVE US ROOM!! You see a youngster pedaling away, he's too small for the bike he's on, but he's got heart and is giving it his all. His attention is more on keeping himself in the saddle than the car that's coming up behind hi...what do you do? Honk the horn to let him know your right behind him?? NO!!! You could scare the rider, causing them to make a quick and dangerous move...don't scare the riders!! Best action is to GIVE THEM PLENTY OF ROOM, even if this means you might need to slow down or even stop...it may be an inconvenience, but so is injuring or killing someone!

A rider is riding in front of you, she's near the side of the road and is doing fairly good, should you just whiz on past her without moving over a bit? NO!!! Even the most controlled looking ride could turn bad quickly...a dog runs out after the rider, the rider makes a mistake, a sudden wind blows them sideways...ANYTHING can happen. PLEASE, move over a bit and share the roads, we all want to arrive alive!!

If it's dark out and you notice a bicycle coming at you, should you bright your lights so you can see them better?? NO!!! The rider cannot see the road when the light washes out their vision, even the white line on the side of the road is washed out of the rider's view, brighting a rider only takes away their vision! Many bikers will stop as you approach them, NOT ALL!!! By hitting the brights, you assure the rider is visually impaired! PLEASE dim your beams and give the bicyclist due respect!!

You see a biker on the side of the road, their helmet is on the ground and they look like they're having trouble...drive on by??

I sure hope not, but it happens all to often! While you might just pass on by some broken down car on the side of the road, bikers cannot simply walk on down to the next gas station...what about their bike?? Chances are, a biker is carrying a cell phone...NOT ALWAYS!! I don't have one! It doesn't hurt to stop and simply ask if you can help! By help, I mean maybe call for help if nothing else. Even assuring the rider is OK and has the ability to make a call or whatever, you're helping! You don't have to stop and make friends, you don't even have to get out of the car (if you feel that burly biker is a dangerous sort), just a quick "Everything OK" out the window could be all you need!! PLEASE, don't leave a rider stranded if you can help!! There are far too many things that can happen (like a real dangerous person who decides to take advantage of a stranded rider, rainstorm, car doesn't see the bike and an accident...we're at the mercy of the road when we're broke down!!

Remember, we all share these roads, we all have equal rights to them. It's up to each and every one of us to assure EVERYONE is safe out there, PAY ATTENTION!! Whether its a car you drive, a bicycle you ride or a scooter, a skateboard or a motorcycle, GIVE PROPER ROOM AND RESPECT EACH OTHER!! Let's all have a safe and happy spring/summer!!

Here's the deal....same rules as always, no back to back posts unless 15 minutes between posts, each answer can contain only 1 answer and please don't answer the same question each time. As always, HAVE FUN!!! Each correct answer will get you an entry into Robert's drawing folder for a chance to win a special coin!!

11. Later, an animal was crossing the road, and did something that made me laugh out loud. What animal was it??

12. What did the animal do to make me laugh out loud??

13. Why did the animal cross the road(it wasn't a chicken)??
