Do you have a treadmill? I'm not sure what they call them?? For winter training. I had a roommate that was a racer, and crashed in our living room at top speed! He got distracted and slid over to the edge, and then had a nasty fall! He wasn't wearing a helmet though.

Here's a picture of me actually competing in a duathlon. This was my first road bike and luckly never had a crash on it. A few close calls though with cars happened.

Looks like you really enjoy racing. Have you entered Rockin Roddy's contest for promoting bike awareness outside the forums. Kids would listen to a racer like you.

Bikes have every right a car does. Please share the roads!

Here is a picture of one of my bikes. I have a matched pair and am the original owner. They are 1975 Yamaha DT175 enduros.

I don't have a picture of my mountain bike I'm afraid though.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in bike awareness is the new scooters. When they are advertised they seem to have the speed of a motorcycle but the ones we have seen ride on the edge of the road like a bicylcle. Anyone who has a scooter could help educate all of us as to where they ride. Do they have turn signals and how visible they are to other vehicles.

Speaking for my motorized bike...it would go 40 mph with my fat old body on it, so it depended on the road I was on as to where I rode! I didn't have turn signals and I don't know about the production scooters being sold. Anyways, I live around a lake which is considered a resort area...speeds are between 40 and 25 mph, so I rode right on the roadway in most areas except the 40 where (as we all know) 40 didn't actually mean 40 When I rode on any of the main roads, I stayed to the sides, but still on pavement!

I rode my bike to a friend's house which was about 22 miles away, most of those miles were spent on US-12. US-12 is set up for the MIS race traffic and has very generous paved sides though, and was probably the safest road I traveled!

Now...the way I was treated on many of the other roads :wub: I used to ride many miles on my mountain bike though, and was used to the way bicycles are treated on most roads! Drivers are less than friendly toward those on bicycles. I had a passenger reach out to grab me one time...woulda killed me, but woulda messed him up too I'd think (he was going about 60mph I'd say).

As to visibility, I'd say just as visible as any other bike on the roads!

Here is my mountain bike that I have rode to work (20 mile round trip), taken camping (rode about 50 miles all summer camping), and go caching on also. I have had it for a year now and love it. Sometimes I wish it had a motor (besides me).

Will post more later. I think I still have a pic of my motorcycle.

I wish I had pics from my trip from Yellowstone, my computer crashed and I lost them all! I have a GT i-drive 5 mountain bike which I coupled up with the BoB's mountain trailer (the one with the shock system). I loaded that bad puppy down with 80# of camping gear and such (not counting my backpack which carried another 30# of equipment) and set out from Yellowstone to home (here in Michigan) for a fundraiser for Homes For Our Troops about 6 years ago! The training I used to do was awesome fun, I'd ride (with trailer and gear) from home to work and back (40 miles a day), then eat and rest before heading back out for a 30 miler of night riding! We'd (Tod and I) load the bikes up and ride some of the more serious trails around here (one, the Pottowattamie, is actually on the top 10 list for the USA) because I knew I'd be riding mountains, but the one thing you couldn't train for was the lack of oxygen!

I truly thought I had it made, I had a great all-season hiking tent and all the great gear...except for rain gear. My gear was OK, but I skimped on it to buy the better trailer and camping gear. I paid for that mistake BIG time! Came time to head out, I enlisted Tod to take me out to Yellowstone...might as well make a vacation out of it as well! I rode around Yellowstone the first week plus with Tod running ahead and setting up the camp, I did most of this without the trailer or gear since Tod was there with my truck! The only real problem? It rained every single day, most times, it rained multiple times in a day. Tod's cheap tent (the one I used at GCF) was no match for the rain, but mine was AWESOME...and still it was soaked by the time I left Yellowstone (and Tod came home). My rain gear was soaked through and impossible to dry out properly, it just kept raining (and snowing a few nights). I made it to Cody WY before hopping a train and heading on home...defeated by the darned weather.

Oh, the pics I had, it was AWESOME! I had to ride straight across from a buffalo twice, it marched straight down the opposing lane of me one day, very scary. The next day, I was right behind it and it never moved out of the way, I had to pass it in the road...this was even more scary as I feared I would spook the big beast and it would chase me down and trample me. I made a lot of noise when approaching and it never moved or even sped up, it must have been used to making cars go around it! I also encountered a bear, but not nearly as close! And the elk?? OMG...scary!

Just kidding about your bike, my friend. Many bikes now come with stands, but they still leave them off the high-end bikes...the darned things rattle when on trails and the makers left them out. You just had to find the right leaning post lol

I did end up raising a good chunk of change for our troops too!! I paid for my whole trip out-of-pocket, all funds went straight to HFOT!

That biking turned me to try to find a good motorized system for it, I bought a spring activated rear-tire drive system which quickly was replaced because it ate through tires almost once a week! I then experimented and made the bike I pictured above somewhere! I see now where they make a sweet front tire driven sysem that works with a chain drive. You actually have to pedal to about 5 mph before it would engage, but it looked pretty good!

I hate that kick stand, you have to be just right or it will fall over. But it does not make a sound. Sounds like you had a heck of a trip. And as for that motorized bike, that is just awesome and I want it...lol.

Anywho, this is not my bike but since I cant find a pic of it, I found this one and it is identical to the one I had. It was a 1986 Suzuki 550L. Very nice bike. I had been almost all over this area with it. Unfortunately, I had to sell it since I was laid off indefinitely and needed the cash.

More to come, gotta spread them out

We need to build up his courage a bit!! I agree that kids would listen to you, my friend! you have the knowledge and you're a great example of what can be done when one puts their mind to it!!

We love to go for family bike rides, but all of our bikes are now put up for the winter (and probably most of the spring) so I have no pictures. But I am really enjoying seeing everyone's bikes!

I was hit by cars twice in my early 20's while motorcycling. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Well... my father has a small motorbike...something!

Is it in bad condition but still works! If it had a human voice.... the bike would definatelly started screaming and yelling to us!!! :lol:

It carries lots of things, heavy ones!!! It went far from the city even if it is actually only for inside the city... when my dad and my mother are going to the market.... well in their return you only see 2 wheels!!! :lol: All the other is full of bags, and... my parents!!! :lol:

Of course, my brother in law has a motorbike! a lovely one!!! :cute:

I have a bycickle that actually never used! I won it in a lottery, but I am too fat for it! :lol:

Anyway.... I will try to post the photos tomorrow! I do not have any now!!

I hope this cointest will not end tomorrow!!!
