Traveling through snow geese territory are we Robert?? I've actually seen this a few times, COOL!! The trips to Vegas and back around this time of the year really showed me some interesting bird sights including just what you describe. What looks like millions of snow geese descending on a frozen roadside lake. I also saw an eagle standing on the ice once, I think he was trying to fish (but should have spudded a hole lol).

Traveling through snow geese territory are we Robert?? I've actually seen this a few times, COOL!! The trips to Vegas and back around this time of the year really showed me some interesting bird sights including just what you describe. I saw that driving across Nebraska tonight(last evening). I was looking for Bikes, but it was only 20 degrees out, so there were none!!

I didn't have my camera, so I couldn't get a picture...wish I had. Funny story there, with the addition of the power kit, my rechargeables are now free to be used in the camera where they were meant to be used, I even commented on taiking it. When we saw this crazy thing, I mentioned to Kaleb that the camera would have come in handy!!

I have been fortunate to see many bear in my life, we used to camp when I was young and my family went to Yellowstone National Park 7 times!! Back when I was young though, there were a LOT of bear in Yellowstone, and moose and elk and buffalo...

 

We once watched a pair of bears swim out of a lake and walk straight up to a ranger's truck with 2 rangers in it. The rangers were reading a map and had their food on the roof of the truck, their windows open. Well, the bears approached, one one either side and stood right up at the windows and started eating the food while the rangers were busy trying to roll the windows up. Here's an excellent example of why PAYING ATTENTION might save a life!!

 

We learned early on when in Yellowstone, if cars are stopped, pull over and look around...there's an animal somewhere! We also asked the rangers for advice and he told us to visit the park dumps. Bears by the dozens used to visit the dumps each night, we spent a lot of evenings watching them play and fight...from a safe distance and in our van!!

Right on the snake part!! imagine, KAboom leading us along a "trail" when he stops and points. In the snow lays this snake, alive and moving very slowly. It was crazy, I have never seen a snake in the snow before. You could see where it came up and slithered across the snow.
