. On the trip, I saw something that I've only seen once before in my whole life(in 1988). What did I see??

1981 Ford Escourt

Look out for small vehichles!

Since you put that in there I just have to tell a story that really, really scared me. I was driving my escort from Milwaukee to Detroit area in the right most lane. A semi was on my left. He started to come in my lane for the next exit and obviously didn't see me. I don't know what I was thinking but at first I tried to speed up. Duh an escort against a semi who do you think would win..... I tried to blast my horn but it didnt' work!!! Then I hit the brakes HARD!! Not good enough and there was a concrete barrier next to me and not enough shoulder for me. I thought I was going to be crushed up against that wall and a goner for sure. When he finally saw me and swerved out of the lane, I was already completely on the shoulder and brushing up on that concrete wall. I was shaking in my boots. I really don't think I was in his blind spot though as I saw him in his mirror. When I got home I discovered a blown fuse was why my horn didn't work. that got fixed very quickly....

You may not beleive it, but it was probably just as scary for the driver, thinking how close he came to killing you. Sometimes it is easy to miss cars when you have so many things to pay attention to. You all need to know that we usually cannot hear your horn anyway(but still try). Flashing lights will get our attention, but be careful that it cannot be mistaken for a signal to get over. Never stay on the right side of a Big Truck, or pass on that side. Can you beleive that an ENTIRE Bus was once in my blind spot. I looked in the mirror, and there was NOTHING, so I signaled, and just before moving over I took my second look, and there was a Huge Bus right next to me!!

Make sure your mirrors are properly adjusted!! Spot mirrors can be great to give you a wider view, and the stick on kind are less than $2. I think that's worth it.

Thank you for sharing, and I'm so glad that you're still here!!

Hmm.... 5) Dangerous visit!!!

I do not know how to say it... Well... some guys like to jump from mountain edges with triangle Wings ...something like an airplane.... Sometimes the diver has his legs or all his body in a sack like a sleeping bag!

Oh boy!!! I do not know how to call it! I hope I can find a photo to see what I mean!

Ride safely!

:D I found something to show you how it looks like! Some has weels, but most of them do not!

I think you got an idea...more or less!

Lady bee, thank you for the help!

Ride safely!!!

That picture is called an "Ultralight". it has an engine like an airplane, I thought what you described was a "Hang Glider" where the pilot is Hanging beneath a Kite.

I am too! I'm sure it shook him up too. That happened in broad daylight. Many times on the trips I made between Milwaukee and home, I followed the trucks at night as the last of the caravan. When they turned off, I said a silent goodbye to my driving partners for the night. LOL

I'm glad too that you Looked Twice!!!

Was able to grab Usyoopers "Todies Wild Ride" coin today! Hope to move it along soon. Also saw a city truck lose a trailer in front of me. Luckily it went right into the ditch instead of left towards traffic.

Always be aware of others, you never know what might happen.

Wow, and Wow. I'm glad you finally got to grab one of these. I know you have been trying. It's lucky that the trailer didn't hurt anyone! See what Bikes have to put up with??

Not close enough to draft but close enough so that radar would see them first--maybe :D:laughing: During those night drives the trucks were about the only ones on the road too......

This singer/actor acted in a recent film that was made from an old TV series.

Another celeb was Kyle Petty as well as a few other drivers and owners for that matter. MIS is just a few miles away, we get the drivers, the mechanics, the crews...everyone!! I'm not usually there when the celebs like the drivers come, they come on the weekends (I only work from 5AM to about 8AM on weekends)!

Someone was close to the year we bought the course too!!

You're telling ME?? I tend to work a later shift and can often be on the road until about 3-4 AM. There aren't too many people driving at that hour. It's really helpful to get through a big city with no traffic though. You can get all the way across Chicago in about 20 minutes!! It might take 3 hours in the daytime.

For those who missed the news today, I will share a cool story they covered:

In 2011, a new car will be available, I can't remember the name (I think it was the Transform), but I assure you, this one will definitely turn heads on the roads...and in the air!! That's right, it's a flying car!! It runs on premium gas, is front wheel drive when on the ground, the wings fold up so you can drive it right down the road and is small, so you can land and take off from any little airport!! Best of all, 400 miles per tank of gas...YES!!!

Only real downside...besides the price....you'll need a pilot's license as well as driver's license to fly/drive this one!

Do you still want the price?? Really?? I'll tell you this, I could sell my house and not have enough to buy it....$194,000!!!

DING!! DING!! please send in an email for the folder!!

an armadillo

Lights on for safty

Yes, Lights on...so you can see the Armadillos or are they Armadilli?? The first time I saw one I was running two miles at Ft. Sill, OK and then I saw one last night after I left Del Rio, TX.

It's a good thing I had my lights or, or I wouldn't have seen it and we wouldn't have this question.

I always drive with my lights on(day and night), for about the past 10 years. It makes it much easier for other drivers to notice that you are there. Of course now that my Personal car is getting old and decrepit, she apeareantly does not turn them off for me when I forget. Last time I drove her, I got stuck needing a Jump.

I'm going to pop in a movie, and will update the status of my questions when I get done. I'll gather some of the info we have established about the trip, and format the details into some coherent clues for you all.

Rod, I think a hole in one earns a Coin!! Send me your address. The best I ever saw was a Chip In from about 30 Yards, over a bunker and a Knoll(Correct term??). The guy couldn't figure out where his ball went, since he couldn't see the hole when he hit it!! I was watching from the road nearby, and had to jump on the horn, it was amazing!!

1) You bought the golf course.... in 1985

Look twice for bikes!

I thought armadillos were roadkill all over Texas??? Maybe not....

Maybe, but only the second time I've seen one alive.

Ahhhhh!!

Do we know yet where you had lunch?

I suppose the next question will be "What movie did I just watch?" good one!! LOL
