+gramacindy Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Our newer computer does not have an 'Extra" serial port to hook up my GPS map 76S for downloads of Geos. Tried unsuccessfully to order From garmin correct cable, no luck. I need a USB cable with the 4 prong end on GPS end. Any luck out there? Quote
+Mach2003 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 (edited) It sounds like you need an adaptor that convers USB (pc side) to RS232 (Garmin side). These are generally available at places that sell PDA's. Here in Canada, we can get them at Staples or Office Depot. Edit to add link: Click Here Edited August 19, 2008 by Mach2003 Quote

martin_nv Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 If the 4-prong end has a round style connector, then you probably need one of these in addition to what March2003 suggested: Garmin RS232 Cable This cable should have come with the GPS though. I use this cable plugged into one similar to what Mach2003 suggested to run my GPSmap76s off my laptop. Quote
