+fivefoxes
I'm new to geocaching, but I've got my sons involved, and I know we're going to get more into it. The Boss, my wife, is OK with a GPS as long as she can use it on the road. Does anybody have an experience with the nuvi 500? As a cross-over, how big is the compromise? Is it too good to be true, as in, something for everybody? Quote Link to comment
+Redwoods Mtn Biker
It could be a real good option for you. I'm trying the 500 now and will have a review posted in a few weeks. There's little compromise on the auto side, more on the handheld side. The biggest downside I've seen so far for a geocacher is the awkward size and lack of a wrist-strap or lanyard attachment. That's been my experience as well. It is a good auto navigator (actually a very good auto navigator, except it won't speak street names.) Not a bad all-in-one unit, but definitely more car-friendly than geocache-friendly. That said, it will geocache, which is better than most nuvis. Quote Link to comment
