Kirok Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 A friend of mine is going on a second honeymoon starting next weekend, and he'd like to do some caching while he's out there. He's BIG into photography, so I'm looking to compile a list of must-do caches the great views / topics for this shutterbug. Granted, the entire area is one big scenery buffet, but a select few choices and maybe some out-of -the-way areas away from the tourists that the locals could recommend would be great. Please and thanks. Quote
shearzone Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Being in a national park, caches in Banff are few and far between. I am somewhat biased, but I would recommend any of the earthcaches there. This topic has also been discussed in these threads: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...c=187397&hl http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...c=198127&hl Quote
Viajero Perdido Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) You could start with Love Grotto or Cold Cache (both near Canmore), then follow the bookmark lists from there. That'll take you to the local favorites. Enjoy! Edited August 10, 2008 by Viajero Perdido Quote
JDandDD Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 One just outside of the town of Banff (basically across the road) that is really worth doing for the history of the area is GC7C58 Don't Eat the Rhubarb Within Banff there is: GCCFCF Jacoba's Banff cache with a nice walk along side the Bow River near the Banff Springs and there are two on the Heart Creek trail SE of Canmore that are definitely worth doing. The Heart Creek trail is a great walk in the mountains. JD Quote

Dog Knows Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Depending on how fit you are, there is "Fairview Mountain Cache". The trailhead is at Lake Louise, and with relative ease, you can hike to a summit with incredible views. Quote
Kirok Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm compiling my list now. Cheers. Quote
