+TeamOxford
Thanks much........... Be honest. If it's a gift, or a sample, or documents, declare it as such and provide the actual value of the item(s). There should be no duty or taxes incurred by the recipient. If it's not a gift, a sample, or documents, then chances are it is merchandise. Declare it as such and provide the replacement value of the merchandise, not the resale or retail value. Of course, you could just lie, but being completely honest is not all that hard. You also sleep better! Edited July 17, 2008 by TeamOxford Quote Link to comment

It doesn't matter if it's a gift or not, if it goes past the amount allowed by the country as duty free, then there will be charges. Lots of them. Expensive ones, no less . If it's not a gift, a sample, or documents, then chances are it is merchandise. Declare it as such and provide the replacement value of the merchandise, not the resale or retail value. Of course, you could just lie, but being completely honest is not all that hard. You also sleep better! Here in Sweden it helps if you address the package to, for example in my case, Family Olofsson. The amount that you are allowed duty free is per person, and when a package is mailed to a family, then every member of the family is allowed that amount...and customs has a hard time knowing how many people are in the family! No commercial value and gift are always good to put down. NEVER put down that it is a coin. Coins imply money, money implies value/worth. Use game token instead! Just a few tips from the American in Sweden! Naomi Edited July 17, 2008 by mousekakat Quote Link to comment
