Mike and Mitya Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Does anyone watch The Mole? They had a game tonight called Grapes of Cache. Wine bottles were hidden in a vineyard and they were given a Garmin eTrex Vista and had to solve puzzles to get coords for the wine bottles. Did anyone else see this? Quote
twotfd Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Its hasn't been on yet on the west coast. I've never watched the show before but I will tonight! Thanks for the viewing hint! Quote
m.austin Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I watched it - thought it was really a cool puzzle concept. I wonder if any of them knew they were geocaching? And didn't that one guy only give one part of the coordinates at first? If you missed it or want to see it, the show will be posted on the ABC website tomorrow or Wednesday. Quote
twotfd Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I've never found swag like that before... Maybe an idea for a cache in the Napa or Sonoma valleys? I'd make the drive for that! ~I can hear it already... wouldn't work, need to check id's, etc... a girl can hope. Quote
Tequila Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I saw it and thought it was really cool. And I thought I had figured out the Mole when the guy gave out the wrong coordinates (195 vs 095) but then he corrected it. So who knows. But, I see this as a fantastic idea for a Wherigo in a large forest full of trails. You can have a player running around for hours testing wrong answers. Did anyone notice how they blotted out the name of the GPS?? Quote
lrosell Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) Maybe that's a way to get more rednecks like me around here out Geocaching - hide a case of beer in the woods... Edited July 15, 2008 by lrosell Quote

Amtraker Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Yeah, I watch The Mole and it was cool to see them doing a Puzzle Geocache with a Garmin eTrex Vista!! Garmin GPSr units were used on the Amazing Race too but they doctored the screen display and coordinates shown were in Los Angeles NOT where the contestants were located so all the screen shots were probably filmed outside at some studio in LA. In this case the REAL coordinates (in Argentina) were used. Contestants had to answer 7 Brain Teasers which each had 4 possible answers/coordinates. Here are the 7 Brain Teasers followed by the 7 correct answers and their corresponding coordinates: Brain Teaser #1 From the following list of words choose the word that does not fit A. Chocolate B. +Amtraker Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Brain Teaser #1 From the following list of words choose the word that does not fit A. Chocolate B. Wood C. Ice D. Cheese I think that "plastic" was also one of the possible choices. I just re-watched that portion. I transcribed the card wrong. It actually says: From the following list of words choose the word that does not fit: Ice, Cheese, Chocolate, Plastic, Wood A. Chocolate B. Wood C. Ice D. Cheese However "plastic" was NOT one of the choices for an answer! Nicole said she thinks it is "plastic" but it obviously is not since it is not one of the 4 (A-D) choices. The coordinate card that Paul was holding also only had 4 (A-D) choices even though the question listed 5 items! Quote
