Look up nearby caches from mobile phone?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've been paperless caching for ages, using Cachemate on my phone, and a handheld Garmin unit.

However, I have a new phone, TMobile MDA Compact III, which has GPS built in. For those days when a bit of spur of the moment caching takes place, and I haven't prepared a database for Cachemate, I was wondering if there is a piece of software that would take the GPS coordinates and query Groundspeak to tell me of nearby caches. The phone is essentially a Pocket PC, running WM6.

I know you can look up by coordinates on the WAP site, but it's easier if you can hit one button marked 'Find the nearest caches' (Hypothetical button!). It would be ideal for those afternoons when I find myself outside some dull clothes shop, waiting and waiting and waiting....

Thanks for any help.

I've never seen one. I wouldn't be surprised if Groundspeak have made an exclusive deal with the phone Manufs that have made one (easy source of revenue) .

It has been suggested, but the WAP portal doesn't appear to be a priority for gc.com unfortunately.
