Recommended Posts

OK..Ok...I'm new to this, but i've tryed a million ways. I have an Garmin etrex Vista HCx with a 2 gig sd card and am a premium member on Geocaching.com. I have downloaded a bunch of indaviduale waypionts thru the "send to GPS" button. I'm trying to download pages at a time...i click "check all" then "download waypionts" and i'm promped to "save or open"....I have saved to my card....but the GPS dosn't find the waypoints. How can I save right to my GPS??? with my memory card in my GPS. Please help!!!

gsak is geocaching swiss army knife.

It is a program that allows you to work with .gpx files and sort them and manage them and transfer them to your gps receiver. You should likely download it and try it. It is free for a limited time and then a nag screen comes up, but it is worth the small amount of money.

You should click on your member name and go to member features and setup some pocket caches, which will download large numbers of caches a single time in a specific area, along a route, etc. You can then get them into your gps via gsak or likely through the garmin web interface that I think works with etrex.

good luck.

Since you are a premium member at www.geocaching.com you can setup pocket queries to get the caches in a gpx.

Then import the gpx to GSAK. I use GSAK to create a smart name and to create a short description which includes cache terrain, difficulty, size and the hint if there is enough room for it to fit.

The link in post #7 is a great starting place.
