+Cheesy pigs Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) When I received the Carousel Horses, I thought I needed something to display them on, rather than put them into a binder. ATMouse has been a clever little muridae, and put togther a neat turned wood carousel. While the carousel was purpose-built, and very cute with a Mouse on the bottom, I thought it needed some bling. Some may say I have wrecked a perfectly good Carousel ......but here it is: Now for the cointest. I want to see how you display some or all of your coins. The winner will receive an assortment of 3 coins: * 2008 Compass Rose * Chinese Fan * JanGor Kitty There will also be a booby prize for the worst way of displaying coins. You have a week, and I shall decide the winner, because I like to practise despotism. Enter as many times as you like for either of the prizes Edited July 9, 2008 by Cheesy pigs Quote

+luckycharmer Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 BrierPatch, NO PICTURE, does that mean you don't display them or can't find the display case? LOL Quote
+BrierPatch Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) It means I Can't find the display, do not have a display, would not know where to get a display, Last but not least do not know how to post a picture and only have 1 coin, (fortune favors the bold) the rest are in the field experiencing life in the fast lane. I do have a few different coins however that are for trade or leaving in caches, but no collection just the one that sits on my desk and reminds me to be bold and go for it when I am feeling timid, especially those FTFs where cachers meet and greet without and event. CinemaBoxers Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Great contest Liz - but our coin collection is a bloody mess as you well know. There may be a photo of it coming to this thread, but I will just say now that due to our friendship, I will disqualify myself from your contest. ~J Quote
+surteb Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Thanks for the cointest! Your carousel is beautiful, but the way. Here is my display case: If I'm feeling really crazy, I might even open it up! Quote
+Nochipra Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Here is ours! I just say check these out!!! I'm too lazy to put things in a display case just to put them back in their portable transports to take and show to someone. Quote
+FluteFace Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Well, I think your carousel looks great. Of course, a classic carousel has beautiful horses, like yours does, but I always thought carousels were about bling, which you added! Now a little bit of music and some mirrors . . . all in all . . . very cute! Quote
+BrierPatch Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I like the train set! Where is the Christmas tree? Quote
+Droo Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) Display? This is how I display my PRICELESS collection. Stand back and admire!! Notice the GENUINE Morroccan rug protecting the bottom of the display cases. The really special ones get better care: Pardon le duste! Tiki bar anyone or is that a tiki bra? Top THAT TMA. +GATOULIS Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 WOW! Your display is fantastic!!! Unfortunatelly, I do not have a lot of coins, so...I keep them in a wooden box from Lipton tea! Actually, my complete collection of geocoins, pathtags, signature items, TB's, wooden nickels, casino chips, patches etc, can feet inside, and I have empty room too!!! Here are 2 photos to see it! The photos were taken from my mobile! Sorry if.... I used to have my collection in a box of chocolates, but.... I am thinking to put them in zelatines and pages like my coin collection, but some shaped ones....??? I am changing baxes, according to the number of the cons and other stuff I have! So... Quote
+The-Wolf-Pack Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Well here is how my coins are stored cost me about $4.50 had to wait a few days till it was empty of it's original contents then presto works like a charm lol And no I don't even stand them up on end they are just there lol hubby just shakes his head and says how can you find anything in there...I say I just can lol Quote
+crevis79 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I actually have been storing the few I have on the drivers side floor of my car... I was thinking, since my collection is getting pretty big (about 4-6) I might upgrade to placing them in a zip lock bag on the floor... Evidently from this posting, I have some major upgrades that I could look into. I like the cardboard box idea! I will take a picture and post it here soon. Quote

We do have some displayed around the house (not just on Brenda's ears)...some in binders...and some fall into the disorganized display category (ie: in various boxes and baskets around the house). +Team FIREBOY Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Display??? Who needs a stinking display. Mine are all over the house. If I store them too close together they mate like rabbits... and then I have them all over the house again. It is a never ending battle. I do occasionally "round em up" using my "coin herding kitty" and then I sit on the floor doing a "Liz"... oh my precious you really needed polished today...... Love ya Liz!!!! Quote

It looks like a unique retirement plan. LOL My kids would die to play with all those coin. The few coins I have keep going to school with the kids for show and tell or get slipped into one of the daycare kids pockets to show a Grandma. Your display would be torture for them to just look at and I would have drool all over the glass. Quote

I take them out and admire them, remember folks I've traded with, places I've been, gifts that were given. (I'm such an easy person to buy Christmas and birthday gifts for!!!) These are not just bits of metal...these are memories, art, tokens of esteem and friendship. Of course I display them. And the door of the cabinet opens so easy.... Quote

+Sparticus06 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I love the curio cabinet! My wife wont let me display my coins like that. Says I already have enough stuff on display (40+ model cars I have built, 53 dragon figures, 75 shot glasses, 6 West Coast Choppers minis, Transformers - too many, 200+ matchbox cars). She says the coins would probably get lost or I would never dust them. I dust....when something accidentally gets moved...lol. So I have to keep all my coins in a binder. I would love to finish the small hanging curio my father started to make a long time ago and never got to finish before he passed away. We dont have much on the walls around here so I think it would look nice with my coins in it. But at least with them being in the binder, they are portable and I can grab them at any moment and go. +ECplus3 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 There are some amazing collections in some pretty amazing displays in this thread!! Then there's mine: At least its sorted... here are the keepers: ...and here are the traders: The boxes were free, as I saved them from the recycling bin at work after setting up our blade server -- every friggin' part came in its own little box! +Sparticus06 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 ATMouse (or other informed coiners), what is the coin on the the top shelf that looks like the Earth with its core exposed? That one really caught my eye. That would be the 4 Elements Coin. Quote

+Belfrypotters Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I was going to take a picture of my cardboard storage box and try for the booby prize, but E&Cplus3 beat me to it. We even have the same coin on the top of the pile (the BCGA coin). I'm not worried about displaying them because I'm not a collector. I intend to release mine. Soon. Now excuse me while I go check my eBay bid to see if it's still winning. Quote

I mostly use the smalls but the very large and odd-shaped coins need the bigger ones. Sometime I even use the bigger ones flipped upside down if it fits better that way. Quote
