-wpts?

Recommended Posts

When I run a Pocket Querry, I get a .gpx files and -wpts.gpx file. What is the wpts file for? Can I ignore it? If not, what is it for? I use the pocket querry to load waypoints on the GPS and to load GPX files on my Windows Mobile PDA. Thanks!

You can ignore it if you want to. It's usually parking coordinates or trailhead markers for the caches. GSAK will import them correctly as "child waypoints"

Like markwell said, they're child waypoints, and you can ignore them. They're the secondary points in the little table in the description of some caches. But I recommend against just blatantly ignoring them.

Sometimes they're just paking coordinates when the parking is obvious, but sometimes the parking isn't so obvious and the provided coordinates will help you avoid crossing private property or dangerous terrain. Somtimes they're intemetiate points of a multi or puzzle and you have to visit each point to gather informtion. Sometimes the cache owner mis-reads the rules and the listed coordinates are for parking and the child waypoints are for the actual cache. Et cetera.
