+cqdx
Can anyone fill me in on why the TEXAS BLUEBONNET V1 Geocoin went for $100 on ebay? I have one of these and was wondering what's up Quote Link to comment
+larry739
More than one person wanted one really bad. Quote Link to comment
+Droo
I once paid that much for a 4 coin set and thought I was doing good... until I saw what the maker was charging for it on Cointracking a few months later. Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
I don't recall that coin being THAT rare, but I could be wrong. I guess a couple o' folks wanted it badly like somebody else said. If I'm wrong about the rarity of the coin, I'm sure I'll be corrected shortly. Quote Link to comment
+Mauison
By looking at the bidding history I could see that there were two bidders bidding against each other. If the winner hadn't bidded at all, the other bidder would have won the geocoin for $15.00. This happens often, when two bidders start bidding against each other and each one just has to win the coin! Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
Being the seller of that item, I was more shocked than most of you. Basically there was some going back and forth early on, but the winning bidder put in a high max amount probably before heading to sleep. Quote Link to comment
+kehunt64
There were a few coins that went high this week. The bidder must have gotten into a bidding war. These coins were all won by the same person, must be a new coin addict I love Geocoins, black nickel $79.00 4 Musketeers, black Assassin's Creed ant. silver regular edition $102.50 CITO Autumn (gold) version, Mother Nature Watches US $98.00 Maybe I should sell my traders Quote Link to comment

Ebay is a lot about timing and luck ~ most people will copy what they see on the high price list, but by then the frenzy is over. Quote Link to comment
ljay
There is another one on there at the moment! i seen it as i was looking for a gift for a cacher who loves flowers but there was no way i was getting involved in that. Most i ever paid for a coin was $72 and that was to Tsun on e-bay for a Black Gold Highland Geofairy that she auctioned for her Race for the Cure. i wouldn't nornally pay anymore than $20 unless it was something i really wanted... My auction also. But this is for a version 2. The other was a version 1. Quote Link to comment

The original bluebonnet was hard enamel inked. The rerelease was done in soft enamel. I believe there are actually more version 1s in existance than version 2s, but only Crake could confirm that.
