Can You Report Benchmarks That Are Not In the NGS Database?

A friend found this benchmark (N 30° 18.830 W 098° 43.806) which I cannot locate in the NGS records. Is there a way to report benchmarks that aren't already reported? The only way I could find to report a benchmark was with an PID number which, but definition, if it's not in their records it can't have.

This disk was set by the U. S. Geological Survey, a separate agency. A few of its thousands of disks are in the NGS database, but the vast majority are not. In the Benchmark Hunting forum there is a thread headed "USGS is interested in getting recovery reports." We haven't kept up with it, but you might find what you want there.

Thanks. I read at the thread and it appears that it can be reported as follows:

We prefer to receive recovery reports via email rather than phone.

For Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and all states west of these, use the WESTERN USA email account:

infoservices@usgs.gov

For all remaining states, use the EASTERN USA email account:

mcmcesic@usgs.gov

The pertinent information that should be provided includes:

Stamping on mark: (e.g., 16 DOR 1976)

7.5-minute Quadrangle and State (if known)

Latitude/Longitude position

Condition of Mark: (e.g., Good, Disturbed, Not Found, Destroyed)

Digital photo(s) if possible: (one close-up showing stamping and one showing immediate surroundings)

Thank you for your inquiries and interest in updating the status of USGS control stations!

I'll send this to him.
