Trackable with Gps ?

Being 'newbee' here.....

I have a maybe silly question.

 

Someone told me that when you use a GPS device,

'they' (gps signal providers/gouverment) can track your position.

As far as I know is GPS only a receiver.

So they can't see where you are when you'r using it.

 

OR AM I WRONG ?????

You are correct.

 

Of course if you see black helicopters they have already implanted the tracing chip behind your ear and nothing you do will prevent them from knowing when you eat, sleep and ...well you know.

Your GPS-enabled cell phone and the OnStar unit in your car are different matters entirely. Most GPS devices which can track your location use the GPS to pinpoint location and the cell phone network to report it.

Well from GPS cellphones, I can understand that it knows your position.

OnStar doesn't say anything to me. (I'm from Europe)

(Or it has to be a device against carjacking/theft or something.)

 

I Just want to know if a normal GPS device (like used for Geocaching) traces/sends your location 'back'.

As I understand it, its used as a receiver for the Satelite signals.

No need for a signal back than.

What are you? A nut job? Everyone knows that's just a urban legend! You spend way to much time on the conspiracy theory web sites. The tracing chip is really in the base of the neck. There less movement then the head and gives a more accurate reading on your movements.
