NEW : The sixth coin in Ellandel's series 'Geocaching around the Planet' is available for sale

The sixth coin in the Ellandel Series is now available for sale. The country illustrated this quarter is Malaysia, a fascinating country where I had great fun geocaching at the foot of the Petronas Towers, some of the tallest tower buildings in the world, but also in the jungle forests of Borneo.

The theme I selected for the Malaysian coin is the Wau, the large kite which the Malaysians like to assemble according to age-old traditions. They come in all sizes and colors, and they are one of the national symbols. Malaysian Airlines even has a stylized drawing of a Wau on the tail of their planes. The Wau chosen for this coin is called Wau Bulan, which means Moon Kite. For details on the wau, have a look at This page.

So here is what the coin looks like. It blends nice, rich colors with lots of visible metal, and the use of translucent colors is showing the metal engravings under the paint. The effect is quite nice. It was designed by Paula Collins, based on an existing Wau pattern.

The Nickel, Gold (limited to 100) and Black (limited to 100) versions are available on the Webshop at www.ellandel.com/osCommerce/catalog . The Limited series will not be re-minted when they are sold out.

If you want to know more about the series and the story behind it, all the details are available on the website at www.ellandel.com.

This is a nice addition to your coin collection, and a unique design ! But hurry up, they are almost sold out!
