Explorist 500 won't power up

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I got an explorist 500 from a friend who bought 2 on ebay. While out caching the other day, it froze - wouldn't even turn off. So I removed the battery. Now it won't power up. Any helpful suggestions? (Comments such as "buy another one" or "buy garmin", etc don't count.) Not to be picky, but I'm looking for practical suggestions. This is really stressing me out.

I had an eXplorist 600 do that to me. The bad news is that it had to go back to Bill's Electronics in Mildmay, Ontario to have the motherboard replaced.

Make sure you try this first though:

1) Remove the SD Card from the unit.

Try to turn the unit on, if this doesn't work, try:

2) Press and hold MENU+NAV+POWER to reset the unit (even though the battery removal should have done this technically)

if this doesn't work, try:

3) Try connecting the unit to the data cable and power up off the data cable.

Good luck!
