+Ble68
I am working on a new design and want your input. Do you prefer animal coins that are realistic or cartoon like? I don't want to give to much info. on the design... Quote Link to comment
+Celtic Cache Trio
Realistic for sure. Cartoonish is fun but we like realistic. Quote Link to comment
+nashuan
Realistic, or artistic like the 2008 Earth Turtles. Edited May 19, 2008 by nashuan Quote Link to comment
+GATOULIS
Oh! That depense! If you want to "honor" a pet you have, or its memory, it will be good the coin design to be realistic! If you want to show something funny etc, the cartoonish would be great!!! both designs are made to show something! for example, if you want to make a coins for your dog.... if you want to show to the others how he looked, do the realistic. If you want to show his character, of funny moments he had, or wyou had with him, do the cartoonish! I know I didn't help much! Sorry! I just placed what I believe about it! Quote Link to comment
+Zork V
Cartoonish (From Toon Town, even) Quote Link to comment
+dark_onyx1982
both, depends on how you portray it. Quote Link to comment
+scuba dude
Realistic, or artistic like the 2008 Earth Turtles. Beat me to it! That's just what I was going to say. Quote Link to comment

I don't want to give to much info. on the design... neither actually. cartoonish is sort of silly, realistic doesn't look real in a coin, colours can get muddy etc. - abstract or artistic, like the ones mentioned, earth turtles, are the best. something that expresses how you see or feel about a species. lara Edited May 19, 2008 by RedShoesGirl Quote Link to comment
+dardevle
Realistic, or artistic like the 2008 Earth Turtles. Beat me to it! That's just what I was going to say. I agree with this. I'd also would have to agree with this also. I would lean to the artistic versions though. Or maybe cartoonish, even realistick would fit. It really depends how you are going to use the critters! I would have to favor the realistic/artistic! Quote Link to comment
+LadyBee4T
Overall I tend to like cartoonish but it really depends on what you want to do with your coin. Quote Link to comment

+grodan & fiabus
I think I have to say cartoonish, but realistic is also good since I like them both. I have a suggestion yiu make it shaped and not round. That way it will fit nice in my collection. I sure it will come out nice anyway. grodan Karin Quote Link to comment
+Geo.Error
Ble68 i think you must do what is in your heart, your first coin you have design is very good and beautiful, so look in your heart and make a other great design I believe in you Quote Link to comment
southpawaz
I like realistic, especially if the coin is done with a 3D die. Second preference is artistic and third place would be cartoonish, but I would buy it regardless of the style if the subject animal was interesting to me. Quote Link to comment
lorca.nl
i think you have to make a coin what you like and what your hands design on the paper...... Quote Link to comment
+usyoopers
depends....cartoonish I think though, will it make you smile and laugh?...gotta love that! Quote Link to comment
nebukatneza
both, depends on how you portray it. yes, that would be my decision, too! Quote Link to comment
+ComputerCacheBug
You should just make 2 different coins, 1 cartoonish and 1 realistic. That way everyone is happy. (Well excpet your pocket book of course ) Quote Link to comment
+Degai
depends....cartoonish I think though, will it make you smile and laugh?...gotta love that! I think usyoopers has summed this one up for me! Quote Link to comment
+Six Little Spookies
Realisticor artistic for me, but I certainly won't say no to a cartoony one if I like it. Best realistic coin I've see so far: Cacheroach! That thing's actually life-size! Quote Link to comment
YemonYime
Always a difficult decision, because it really depends on the overall theme or message of the coin. I think once you have that determined, it becomes clearer how you'd like to portray the animal. A good example is the most recent Alaskan coins, that have a bear in a beautifully done 3D relief. Of course, there's a good reason to have a bear on this particular coin*, which makes the overall design perfectly appropriate in relation to the theme. On the other hand, a coin that's made more for fun seems better suited to a cartoon animal. These usually work best in 2D, but there are some good exceptions like the 2008 Volunteer coins with Signal. Regardless, have fun planning your coin! *mKay, lemme explain: The Alaska state flag features the Big Dipper, which is in the constellation of Ursa Major, which means "The Big Bear". And uhm...yeah, there's also lots of bears in Alaska! Quote Link to comment

But I like all geocoins (just don't have the money for everyone of them) I hope this helps. kf4oox - Paul Quote Link to comment
LoriDarlin
Cartoonish is favored but i like both!! ps I agree with Geo.Error too!!! Quote Link to comment
