Event: How much of a hint to give?

Hi folks, we are having a one day GeoCACHEathon Event (GC19Y22) next month that is comprised of over 100 caches. My question is: with all these caches and folks trying to accumulate the most finds in this one day (to garner the first prize), what information should we provide to the finders to assist them.

Knowing the caches won’t be published until after the starting time, we are providing a sheet with all the coordinates, Diff/Terr, size, and a one word hint. It is a large area (approximately 20 miles x 20 Miles square) 99 % are caches near the road.

Is this enough to satisfy those competitive cachers and the novice alike? We have considered proving a rough map, a KML file, a GPX file etc.

What would you like to see? Your thoughts would be appreciated!

How did this get approved???!!??

From the guidelines:

In addition, an event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together cachers for an organized hunt of another cache or caches. Such group hunts are best organized using the forums or an email distribution list.

Having said that - A map and a GPX download would be nice to have - especially for the Colorado Garmin users......

Evidently it was approved because it is ALSO an 'Eat & Greet'.

Yes, it's like our Cache Machines here. The "Event" part is technically the "Eat & Greet" part. People can come to just the eating part and still log the Event.

I'd plan on a bank of PCs ready to load these coords into seekers GPS units for them. Expecting attendees to manually enter that many coords is a-nasty and mean, and b-quite likely to lead to data entry error and send cachers into the vineyards or off course.

A map would be nice, but not that necessary. Hints are always optional.

Sounds like a fun time, but all of my CA travel time and budget is already committed to GW6 this year.
