fastest / best 2 or 4gb microsd card for vista hcx

Lookin' around to pick up a card for my shipping vista, wondering if there's any microsd card people have found is head and shoulders above the pack for speed.

 

Any cards that are known problems / don't work?

well they all read and write pretty quickly if anything the GPS unit would slow it down........just grab a 2gb/4gb

All pretty comparable. I think they all come from the same Chinese factory.

Usually Hi-speed cards are based on writing to the card. Your GPS just reads from it usually. I don't think it matters as much as for cameras.

I've seen some sites though that point out some cards, though, that seem to be a hell of a lot faster than others (read and write). Just thought it could affect map reads on our units.

It might, I have not seen that much variance in the read speed, only in write.

 

I think it was mentioned in one of the FQ's for a 60/76 that any card would perform about the same.

I just found a package of 2 Kingston 2GB micro sd at Fry's for 19.99 (fry's online price is 17.99). That's better than NewEgg, but I think it ends today.

you can find 2gb cards online for about 12 bucks at sites like cellphoneshop.net, and I would be willing to say that in the unit all cards are going to perform at just about the same speed(+/- .1 milliseconds or so) the GPSr is going to be the choke point on the read, as the processor in the unit would not be able to process as fast as the card can be read.

I'm pretty sure that Garmin specifically recommends against the high speed cards in their units.
